From Dyxum.com I found this thread:
http://www.dyxum.com/dforum/topic66927_post753949.html#753949

Pointing to this video interview on a Swedish website:
http://www.fotoguiden.se/artiklar/webb-tv_sony_om_framtida_kameror-218.html

I understand Swedish since I am from Norway and our languages are not
that far apart.

The most important points are pointet out in the thread at Dyxum.com
  • A560 and the A580 might be the last "traditional" DSLR from Sony
  • A SLT A750 might come at Photokina now in September
  • More pro SLT cameras also to come
But... I feel Anders Ericsson from Sony don't know for sure every plan
Sony might have for the future. So maybe more "traditional" DSLR's also.
I believe we could get some answers from Sony at Photokina in September.
Dpreview.com could maybe get an interview with Sony?

Well this is going to get a lot of people excited, if true.

Might make commercial sense to leave the OVF market to canikon and pentax and specialise exclusively on SLT.

A little surprising though, to say the least.

I'm going to file this under: I'll beleive it when they say it.

Sony would be making a hugh jump in technology leaving many people behind who do not want to make the jump with them but they might pick up some new users looking for the new technology. As for me I will have to look at how the new cameras meet my needs.

The "A750" might be an "traditional" DSLR.
Anders Ericsson from Sony did not say it would be an SLT. But also did

not say it would be an "traditional" DSLR. So, we just have to wait and find out.

There was also some talk about an "even better EVF" that Sony is working on.
And that it would maybe be ready within one year.
Anders Ericsson from Sony could not say anything more about this. But
just that Sony are working on it.

Not I big suprise that Sony are working on EVF technology if that is the
future I would say.

Again, Dpreview.com should interview Sony at Photokina if possible.

it will be entertaing at the very least to watch all the Sony Alpha forums ignite.

There is one feature that I think many studio pros would like to see, the ability to use your 52" lcd as an external viewfinder. This is something that the EVF cameras could possibly do and would sell like hotcakes to the pros. I bet every single photo studio would buy at least 1/2 dozen and lenses to boot.

Can you imagine selling A99 with all the ziess lenses together with a 52" Bravia? Now that would be something.

so you are entertained by flame wars? that explains why you have been called a troll by so many people here.

as long as sony keep listening to us consumers like the a55/a33 which basically adress the nex issues...i say
GO SONY GO....

im for one admire this kind of progress ...especially to contrast the sluggish canon with their 60d lemon...or nikon....

though personally after checking and checking the photos of each... i still am for the a580 to come...

not because the evf though...i think people are afraid for no reason of evf's ...if made properly u will get used to it real fast and nothing beats things like a histogram that warns you when you going to shoot a bad photo...etc..

the only issue i have with the a55 for now is a potential ghosting ( dpr will make this week a fuller review for the a55 and said they will check this issue )

and the loss of light which means more noise...dont like noise...i can photoshop anything but there is a limit to what can one do with the noise.

While Sony has the lead right now, the competition will soon catch up. Nikon is rumored to have an ILC in development, or ready to hit the market. And, I'll bet so does Canon.

Sony may have a patent on their 'semi-translucent' mirror, there is more than one way to achieve the same result. And should Canon decide that the Sony approach is the best way to go, they just need to modify the design enough that the new design meets patent requirements for a new patent. In Japan, this calls for a 10% difference, while the US and Europe calls for a 15% difference.

And once Canon and Nikon decide the ILC/SLT market is one that they should pursue, then any advantage Sony had will dissipate.

So, should Sony decide that they should drop mirrored cameras, in the long run, it doesn't do them any good.

I fail to see why discontinuing a type of camera (OVF DSLR) is considered a "jump in technology". I have no problem with them introducing both a NEX 7 and an A7x, but they need both A7xx and A9xx/8xx OVF cameras (yes, it might even be a good idea for an A9x/A8x?)

Take a deep breath and slowly release. "Entertaining" is often used as sarcasm for non-productive arguing (or other time wasters). For example one case at work is we use it when two managers call a meeting to "resolve" differences between their groups, when we know that their irreconcilable differences are the issue. Their subordinates have no problem reaching consensus when the bosses are not around. So instead of doing something productive, we get entertained listening to these people fighting (and of course, part of the entertainment is the need to provide all of the background info that the boss will need to "win".) Sort of like listening to an interview of Brittney Spears on physics. (entertaining but useless)

I have a problem with small size slrs which are the rage now. I love the small size with consumer lenses for their portability, but as a wildlife shooter with big lenses, the small camera are not that easy to handle. Can you imagine a 300mm 2.8 on the end of that camera (a55).

all the b#tchin' and moaning of the lack of mirror lock-up on this forum. Sony got tired of the complains and decided the only way to stop it was to eliminate the fricken mirror!

Thanks a lot to those that complained about the lack of MLU.

:) :) :)

People who are using NEX cameras says that the HDMI output are working
all the time. Also when shooting.
So you could connect whatever display device to the HDMI, TV etc.

I don't know if A33 and A55 is the same with the HDMI.

I have read that some people who are shooting video with Canon DSLR's
are connecting monitors to the HDMI output.
Yes very usefull for some people I believe.

As I wrote I got a feeling that Anders Ericsson from Sony don't know
all plans Sony have for the future.
So don't panic and wait for Photokina now in September.
And would be nice if Dpreview.com could get an interview with Sony
about SLT's vs. DSLR's for the future and more.

The "ghost issue" I believe A9xx users don't can accept.
24+ MP images with ghosting? No way.
So either Sony must come with "mirror generation 2" or maybe an option
for lifting the mirror. Or focusing with sensor phase detection?

My wild guess is that the next A7xx and A9xx will have a regular mirror and
optical viewfinder. But in the future I believe EVF will take over.

Time will tell... Photokina in September maybe...

They are reviewing the images via HDMI but I have heard many pros complain that they can not use their large monitors as EVF. I am not sure if any of the cameras are currently doing that.

I've been happily using the sub average EVFs on the KMZ6 without any problem, as well as the much better EVFs on the Minolta A1 and KM A2.

I will admit that those EVFs, regardless of quality, are much more comfortable to use than the OVF on my A550.

I would be really interested in a small SLT full frame camera with EVF.

I wonder if Sony will ever adopt the tilting EVF approach that Minolta had with the Dimage 7 through to KMA2? It was extremely functional.
