I am looking to buy the 7d to use for sports liike soccer and football. I need the best place to buy on with the best price also the best lens or lenses for action shots. thanks in advance

Well, given my experience with needing to return my 1st 7D, I'd recommend buying from a dependable local vendor - either or local camera shop or someplace like Best Buy. You're not going to find a substantial discount from a reputable vendor anyway.

As for the lenses if you'll be shooting in daylight the 70-300 IS USM would serve you well. If you'll be shooting under the lights you need an f2.8 lens. The best choice is clearly the 70-200/2.8 L IS USM, but it's pricey. If you'll only be shooting sports with it, the non-IS version is all you'll need. And I think you would also be happy with the Sigma 70-200/2.8 HSM. You'll have to decide how much you're willing to spend. Whether you go Canon or Sigma you'll want to get a 1.4x or a 2x teleconverter - of the same brand - to give you more reach for the daylight shots.

just checked again..they droped the $200 limit for each transaction..but the limit is $2500 for each calendar year.. so yes they could earn the $700 cashback with dell/bing cashback
Are you sure about the $200 limit? I recall that a number of (very fortunate) people ordered the 5dII kit for $700 off through Dell/Bing cashback over Thanksgiving.

I just received my new 7D (the battery is charging as we speak) and I bought it from B&H. I ordered it over the weekend (in the wee hours of Monday morning. I live in Ohio and got it today. That is EXCELLENT service. By buying it from B&H I saved over $100.00 on sales tax and had FREE SHIPPING. My local store is no longer a Canon store (financial difficulties).

I have done business with B&H and have been very impressed with their service. I wish they were local but they are not. I am NOT particularly interested in dealing with Best Buy, etc or any of the other chains just to pay $100.00 more for sales tax. I bought my 40D locally but that is when I had a good dealer available (a real camera dealer). They also met me half way on the difference in price. Not going to happen any more...

There is a few posrters here who can't get the 7D figured out (particularly AF). They'd probably sell at a good price. LOL Otherwise, by from a good local shop.

Try BB with the 10% mover's coupon. Immediate savings right before your very eyes.

An excellent sports lens for outdoors is the 70-200mm f/4 for $600 US. Unbelievable IQ at a reasonable price point. If you want IS (this is the version I currently own), then tack on another $500 US or so.

Good luck and have fun with your 7D!

and it's defective, you're on the hook for a 15% re-stocking fee?

nope..you can exchange the camera within 14 days..i think it is a good policy because there are a lot of people who do abuse the system..think of costco with their open return policy in the past
