mighty oak trees grow. I think that's the saying. I've been on the lookout for one of these. I wasn't sure there'd be any left since Judi, our Beagle, has been eating mass quantities of acorns all winter.

Hello Jan,

Very good picture. Excellent detail and color, and a good eye to find it in the first place. Thanks,

hugh

Hi Jan, wow...I never knew how an Oak starts off. This is so cool! Amazing what I learn here. Nice exposure and presentation....Great job!

Perfect spring photo and an excellent photo of a very popular saying, nice to see you posing again Jan. DL

Jan,

What a perfect symbol of spring! Nicely seen, and nicely done, too.

I didn't know that beagles ate acorns, though :-)

Thanks, Larry. I'm hoping to get it when it has a leaf or two but it's right where the dogs run around so it's survival is iffy. Jan :)

Thanks, DL. It's really spring to me when I see one of these. I'm hoping to get it when it has some leaves but the new growth might seem like salad to Judi :) I'm always happier when I'm sharing a picture here and your appreciation makes me even happier. Jan :)

Hi Jan,

Very pretty photo. Love the datail and color. I don't think I've actually ever seen an acorn sprout, so thanks for sharing this one. Pretty photo to view and an education, can't ask for more than that! Curt A

Thanks, adrienne. My head is reeling from all the new growth happening now. After the swamp cabbage this baby oak means spring is here even though it's in the 30s again! One of the breed characteristics of Beagles is gluttony. It's true. Judi will anything and everything :) Jan

Hi Curt, sorry I'm just getting back to you. I can't seem to get here as often as I like anymore. Thanks so much for your more than kind words. For some reason I like watching things grow and shooting them at different stages so I always go crazy in the spring. I'm so glad you liked this little sprout. Jan :)

Maybe this one will grow and grow. And when your old, on a hot summer
afternoon you can lay down under it and enjoy its shade.
Nice capture.

Hello Jan,

Very nice and qualitative picture and I thank you for the educational side of this, I never seen this before and I love it.

With kind regards,

Hi Jan,

I love taking and looking at flower photos. I think you did a great job of finding and photographing this little tree to be. Thanks for sharing this act of creation with us.

Stan Abraham

Thanks, Ruud. What a charming fantasy you've created but I'll be long gone before this little guy gives shade :) So happy you liked it. Jan

Thanks so much, Dirk. It certainly isn't easy to find something never before seen to post here. I'm thrilled I was able to share this little sprout with everyone and very happy you loved it. Jan :)

Thanks, Stan. I'm so happy you like it. I'm hoping to get it when its leaves come out. Hopefully it will survive the frost tonight. We'll see. Jan :)

What a bonus, Jan...two prizes in one picture! You have that lovely acorn in perfect focus in the foreground, and you have those equally compelling soft spring grasses in the background, and they blend together beautifully. Sorry I caught up with this late, but I'm glad to see you're shaking off the "sickies" and that your photographic eye seems to be rejuvenated.

Thanks for sharing this,

Robert
