I don't want to sound too stupid here but I've seen many, many references to UZI's on this forum and I'm new to this digital stuff and this website. Can/would anyone out there explain a "UZI" to me. Thanks in advance.

It's the nickname applied to the C-2100UZ. We are fanatical about it. It has a 38-380mm lens with image stabilization. -- http://www.pbase.com/julivalley/galleries21oo , B-3oo3o4oJuli

An UZI is an Italian blender that is often confused with a camera if you see it in the right light. Many people have tried to take pictures with one and ended up with very deformed faces. Don't let them fool you. The people on this forum are all nuts and are actually running this thing out of an asylum. I am the gatekeeper of the asylum ... the only sane one here ... someone you can trust ... and the one person to ask for advice. TRUST ME!

If you buy one you will be sorry.

Never again will you be satisfied with any thing less than a 10X lens with image stabilization. It also has a focus assist beam that allows shots in the dark. Add an electronic view finder that ensures you get in print all that was showing when you snapped the shutter. It is without reservation a most versatile 2Mp camera .The images from it will astound you. Am I exaggerating? No, Not at all! Buy one , you will not regret it.JD

code name: Ultra Zealot Intelligence device

factory name: C-2100 UZ

wanted name: craZy

nickname: UZI

I'm feeling dizzzzzzy. That's what this camera will make you feel like once you get it on your hand. :)

I haven't been the same since I got it.

Watch out! People who have UZ have mor or less UZI syndrome . It's more of a mental one,but not so bad. I can live with that. So can you.

See,it already shows in my post.

P.S. I'm just kidding. :)

There is no other - under $1500 - digicam I would rather have : )

The next step up in my opinion is the Canon D30 $2000 plus lenses and if I owned one (D30) I would still want to have a c2100uz for the times when a lighter camera is better suited for the - I call it - assignment : )

Aloha,
There are no stupid questions. But I wonder about some people I've met.

Anyway, if you're not careful, and the wife plays with one you may become a TwoUZi family. We have Hers & His UZis, and there are many more like us out there.--YogiBear

Frankly speaking, if you don't own one and have a Olympus camera question...you might have to find somewhere else to get it answered. Not trying to be mean or over-critical, but that's human nature I guess...if it doesn't perk their interest (which the UZ's do) hard to get answers. Just my $.02

Jim or Frank,

I don't see it that way at all. Yes, the Uzi does seem to be the most popular camera which would naturaly result in alot of posts about it but other camera models users questions get answered all the time...

Here's one about the C4040 right on page one that had no problems getting answered. I see others on the first page about the C3020, C700, E-100 etc...that all got replies also...

As far as the few other camera models questions that do go unanswered, why is that? I would think it would be up to people who own the other models to answer questions pertaining to their model.

Perhaps they could set up a FAQ or tips and tricks post like has been done with the Uzi.

The Uzi might be a majority but the other model owners have to try and help others with their models...Uzi owners wouldn't gererally have experience with the other models. If it's a general question people are more than happy to help out.

Not trying to start an argument, just showing the other side of the coin.

It's a great forum and there's room here for all questions and answers...

c2100uz-ers are apparently more active so if a quesion is asked a c2100uz-er might try to answer it. Non-c2100uz-ers are less active so if we c2100uz-ers don't try to answer a non-c2100uz question might go unanswered.

Happy shooting regardless of race, creed or camera type : )

The fact is that there are simply more 2100 owners here and apparently more active in the forum. However, like most 2100 users, I own another model Olympus camera (C3040Z) as well as having previously owned other models (D340R, D400Z, and C2020Z) and will answer any question I can.

Hi Jim,
I hope that it was not my reply that you thought was a flame...

Surely was not my intention at all.

I was just trying to point out that non Uzi questions do get answered, and who better to answer the question than by someone who has that particular camera model?

I also made a suggestion that a FAQ of sorts me made so maybe newcomers could be pointed to this thread by Uzi owners if there question is going unanswered...

I mentioned this once before and others thought it was a good idea but no one worked on it...

Jim, I assure you I'm not one to start a flame thing here as others will attest. I enjoy this forum and help whenever I can if I can be of assistance regardless of which camera...

I come in peace... (geeez...I didn't even have my coffee yet)
Maybe I shouldn't post till I have my first cup?

Bob
