I had a couple of hours to take some pictures today here in Austin texas. I tried out all the lenses that I have for the CP-5000. I have the WC-E24 wide angle. The WC-E68 19mm wide angle. The TC-E2 2x lens. The discontinued Olympus B-300 1.7x lens. The TC-E2 + B-300 Combo lense. The Kenko 8x32 monoscope. The Nikon Fisheye lens, and the new Kenko Super Combo lens that is 1156mm when hooked up to the 5000. I put one picture example of each lens so you can get an Idea of what each lens can do. Here is what the Fisheye lens looks like in mode 1.

You can see all the lenses mounted on the camera as well as all the pictures taken with the lenses here

Fantastic pictures Ralph!! Pretty neat that you could hook up the Oly with the Kenko to kick xxxx! Did you use any filters, or are you just blessed with blue skies in January? :)

Really cool post Ralph. Very informative too. Say, is that a rubber hose I see mounting the B-300 onto the front of the Kenko? If so, what size etc, if not, how'd you do it? Very innovative. Richard

No filters. We get skyes like this all the time in Texas.

Wait till you see the new combo I got today. Works better than this one!
Ralph
Thank you very, very much for presenting these examples in such a
logical manner. That 1156mm lens combi looks awesome!! :-)))

I hope to get my hands on 5K soon....

For some reason his link didn't work. Here is where I got it, hope it works:

http://www.jandr.com/JRProductPage.process?RestartFlow=t&Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=991&pcount=&Product_Id=18915&Sort=Mfr_Name,Current_Price,Product_Name

The bubble level slides in the hot shoe in portrait mode and lanscape mode. If you have a panoramic bracket and use this level, you will have almost no cropping.

Where did you get the bubble level on the top of your cam, and how
does it attach to the camera body?

I am almost too embarrassed to say how I did it. I used duct tape! I put more than enough duct tape on the Kenko. Then I stripped off a couple of inches of duct tape at a time until the UR-E5 adapter was a snug fit. I screwed a 46mm to 55mm adapter to the UR-E5. Then screwed the B-300 to the adapter. Then slid the B-300 with the UR-E5 over the top of the duct tape on the Kenko. Instant Kenko Super Combo! But forget this combo, I got a better one! Read my next post.

Fantastic! Those were some amazing shots. As I live in Austin, I
found them particularly appealing.

If you could try out these various lenses in macro mode, I'd really
appreciate it. I'm curious to see how it causes the camera to
behave.

Cheers,
Matthew.

ps. Yes, some of the combo shots wouldn't make sense at all.

Ralph,

I so enjoyed your examples....I don't have a 5000, but use the 990. Your pics of the camera WITH their respective lenses was very helpful, too. I'm certain many people appreciate the time you took to do the tests, and to post the results.

Irregardless of how you did it, the results are stunning. It's good to see good old fashioned ingenuity is still alive and well. And most importantly ................. successful. Did you experience any alignment problems?

Let's see I have the Kenko. I have some er ... ahem .. duct tape. All I need now is the B 300. Thanks for fessing up. Richard

No alignment problems what so ever. It is a nice snug fit. You need to check out the new one I put together using the Crystalvue SharpShooter.
http://www.pbase.com/panotaker/crystalvue_super_combo

It uses no duct tape and everything screws together. I don't know if this had any thing to do with me using duct tape or not, but I fix air conditioners for a living. I learned a long time ago that you can fix anything with duct tape.

Ralph,

Thanks for putting the test results out. The results confirms the reason I bought the CP5000.

Couldnt wait to get to the Capitol building to do the same thing. I am also planning to go to Town Lake to get some shots.
