Let's see your purple shots! (Pro1 flower pic)

Hi Rose!
I think the Pro1 does a good job with any colour and these purple
pics are a good representation. I also use -1/3 EV all the time by
the way.
I couldn't agree more. I'm contantly impressed with the really excellent color and fine gradations produced by the Pro1. Your shots are just beautiful! Thanks for sharing :)

WOW! :)

Beautiful.
Great color and view :) Thanks for sharing!
Best regards,
Mark

Lovely shot! Thanks for sharing. Good old G2 huh? Glad to see it still being well used! :)
All these were great to see, more fantastic than I could have
imagined really. So thank you to all who posted your P-F's!
I'll add my rather pitiful example anyway, from a G2 during Spring
this year. Saw this little flower by itself amid the moss. Set the
custom WB (had to check EXIF to be sure I had).

Best regards,
Mark

Hey Sue :)
Thanks ~ I was so excited because up until I got a tripod, all my
flower macros were blurry and this one was tack sharp so it holds a
special memory for me... ;-)
You should be proud, it's beautiful. :)

And this one is one of my favorites...
Nice one!

Funny ~ it does look like the shade of PURPLE known as periwinkle,
doesn't it? ;-)
hehe... yep!

Thanks for joining in. I always enjoy seeing your shots! :)

Best regards,
Mark

Suzielynn: Beautiful pics. I checked out your other pics online.
Beautiful. I have a sd700 also and hope to one day have pics like
that! Can you tell me how you shot the fireworks? Did you use the
"fireworks" setting? Handheld/tripod???? IS on or off? Again-nice
pics. Thanks!
Thank you so much for your kind comments. The fireworks were shot using the fireworks setting with a mini tripod on my porch rail. I used the optical zoom, so the tripod was a necessity. There's a racetrack near my house that puts them off, so I have almost ringside seats. I'm not positive, but I think the IS was on. I had to adjust the exposure, but otherwise, the camera did the work.

What works even better is converting with a gamma 1 profile as camera profile and output to a widegamut gamma 1 profile as workspace, output as 16-bit TIFF. Do all your processing (USM, levels, saturation) and only convert to gamma 2.2 sRGB JPEG when completely done.

You will not only see an increase in color rendition, but sharpness is better and noise will be a lot less in the resulting JPEG.

For the Pro1 I use the Canon D60 as camera profile and the CIE widegamut gamma 1 profile as workspace profile. Both can be picked up at http://www.aim-dtp.net , a site that also has an incredible amount of tips on improving workflow. Highly recommended reading.

Sometimes I am "lazy" and either use the Pro1 generic profile that came with BibbleLite and output directly to sRGB, or I use " straight" dcraw without the -p and -o options, but I can see the difference in the resulting JPEG.

Nice idea, this purple thread. Some stunning examples to be found here.

Shot with the G5 before I'd even heard of color profiles ;-))

Purple is always fun..too bad about the LCD screen missing the hues on the camera itself..makes it hard to guess whether I got it or not.

Hello

Some may not be exactly "purple" but could I say it's close enough?
I like to visit a local farmers market.

This last one of sunflowers - the leaves really had a deep purplish cast.

What is your problem?????

:-)
show some shots made in the light of an overcast day ... not bright
sunlight .. & BTW without wanting to be harsh .. for some flowers
which I know well the purple is "off" color .. sorry .. :-) unless
yours are "less" purple than mine :-)
