...while I passed by Canon to pick up some stuff. They had a training seminar on new models and they let me play with the G7 for a couple of minutes.

The build quality is excellent, and the dial had a great feel to it - kinda like my 20D's. The layout is perfect. It's a LOT smaller than it looks too. Even without the RAW and the swivel screen, I was sold when I handled it. It feels like an excellent camera. Truly a nice piece of gear - spot on for vacations due to the small size yet the manual control. Didn't have an SD on me, so I couldn't take some photos home with me for evaluation, though. Oh, well...

I think I will be getting one next month!

Please! I'm starting to drool here... :-D Now I'm getting very close to pre-ordering, but I have promised myself some more days to see if the S90 pops up and maybe get some first opinions... :-P~

Do you have a flash. If not, that is a very expesnsive hot shoe sitting up there. Around $200 for it when compared to other cameras with similar specs.

Lol there you go again... Ok we get it, you hate the G7, move on now and let people enjoy their cameras ? You keep doing that, everyone on this forum will soon see you for the spoiled brat that you are, always keen on having the last word.

You're much more of a troll than Kellert ever was and we have YET to see one of your photos. Classic case of "measurbitis". 200 dollars for a hotshoe... yea right. Still, I'm done reasoning with you, I think we'd be more successful talking to rocks.

I don't think he is being a troll to point out the fact that the G7 is merely a A series camera with a hotshoe. I really doesn't deserve to be called a G series.

What's the G got to do with it. It's the same camera whether it's an A B C D E F G H I J K. Move on.

Definitely want the hotshoe - and I knew the feel of holding one in my hands would be just like Johann described - That certain "feel" is all it takes !!

It seems you have to have the last word. I was pointing out it is alot of money for a hot shoe. Which is essentially what you get for a $200 premium.

Kellert who?

I think the point that the original poster is trying to make is that the G7's build quality is superior to the A-series cameras. While some people care only about the specs, others are willing to pay a premium for a luxury product with a superior fit and finish. There's nothing wrong with that.

I understand your points and they are good ones. My point is if you don't own a flash and don't intend to use one you are going to pay a lot for a hot shoe that won't be used. And maybe more value can be found in another camera.
