Walnut Mustard Crusted Lamb Rack - 28-70L

I rather like the wine glass in this perspective. It gives the image as a whole better artistic lines and adds DOF to an otherwise flat plane view.

As a lover of roast lamb,I would have preferred to see more of it by raising the camera angle.

Beautiful presentation,Chef !!

The composition feels uncomfortable to me. I think you need to see more of the subject by lifting the camera and perhaps dutching the camera so the contents of the plate are at 45 degrees (or similar across the frame). I really don't like the stem of the glass interfering with the bone. Raising the camera would solve this too.

Finally, it looks as though you tilted the salad bowl. This looks strange, but again wouldn't apply with the new framing.

Looks good enough to eat, in spite of the above.

The subject (lamb/couscous looks flat in my opinion. The low "ant high" level is also distracting from what is a food shot.

I looked at the image again and came to the same impression that the main subject looks 2 dimensional with a "cardboard cutout" look to it.

Eric,

If you used your expodisc to colour balance correctly, the nice brick red shade means the wine is obviously early 90s Barolo. If, on the other hand, the wine is actually ordinary cherry-coloured Washington cab, I wonder if the chops are a little overdone?

Being that I among others also solicit for advice and comments, I know how you feel. What matters is you are learning and improving from all the input. It's better to get more input than not enough in my opinion. Hopefully my comments don't come across as 'ripping' on your food photography. Being that I am also very interested in this niche photography, I have enjoyed seeing your cuisine, photos and interest on the subject. Keep up the good work!
