Anyone have suggestions for a wrist strap for the cp995? I want something I can use camcorder style (i.e. holds it snugly to your wrist rather than hanging loosely).

Inexpensive if possible.
  • Thanks!

I use the wrist strap from my audiovox cell phone. It's strong enough that it won't break.

I just bought one at http://www.simpics.com and I am very happy with it, it cinches up on the wrist if you like. It was inexpensive, there are several there, but I tried the wider one that was recommended by someone who responded to my inquiry. Put in "wrist strap" in the search and you will come up with all the suggestions I received last month before I purchased mine.

this is the one I bought, and I bought it so if I let my kids take a picture with the camera, I could cinch it up on their wrist.

Since you said that you wanted something that fit snugly like a camcorder rather than hanging loosely, I have read that people are using cat collars with shrink wrap. I haven't tried it myself as yet.

I used an 8" x 1/4 " piece of black nylon cord, looped it with knot. purchased from sporting goods store for 68 cents. works and looks great.

Try B&H Photo for the Hakuba strap. If anyone gets it, let us know if it works. I don't want to be the first one. Click here for link...Dave

Jerry...Does it look it was made for the CP or did you modify it in anyway? I always felt Coolpix was a natural for that kind of strap. BTW..what's with the 3.95? Are we talking about the same strap? $24.50 @ B&H...Dave

That strap looks perfect, but the prices I've seen are around $20-25. Where's you get it for $4?

Dave here is the one I bought at the link below for 3.95. The strap is a little thick but it will go through the link with a little effort, no problem..Jerry

Nope, the Hakuba works great. Like the previous poster says, "it takes a little forcing", but I've used mine for 3 months. Works great. I used a small screwdriver to push the braid through the strap eyelet.

I think a "real" sample (picture of 995 with the attached hand strap) can give a much better ideal of how is "actually" work ?! (i.e. is it really work like that when attached to a 35mm AF SLR ?)

Any picture ? Thanks in advance !

It is actually that shrink tubing stuff that you can get at Radio Shack. The picture I saw had the shrink tubing placed over the cat collar. The tubing was then shrunk using a hair dryer so that it was tight on the collar. In the picture (which I can't find!) it looked pretty good. Not adjustable however
once the tubing is shrunk in place.
