In my conversation with Sony today, they agreed with my observation that the 707 has NRW syndrome, but that they have decided not to take any action over my and many others' discovery.

Both Best Buy and Sears said that the occurence of NRW syndrome in the 707 will not be considered grounds for return, and if you are bothered by NRW, you should have gotten the G2, which they feel with the missing 5x lens, EVF, info-lithium, one push review, and night framing, is alot less likely to suffer from NRW.

This sounds like a joke if you ask me. BFS is indeed a defect as far as I and many others are concerned. If you take a bunch of flash photos and a bunch come out blue looking, that is a defect... especially for a high end $1000 camera. Period. If Sony, BB, Sears or any other outfit refuses a repair or return or exchange under a PPP or warranty plan, then to court we shall meet them folks! 'nuff said.

while i think they are working on this problem , I don' t think they care whether you sweat or not, more publicity. This already promises to be a big winner and its too early to say disaster or losing money or consumer rip off.Trust me , things will be fixed and then they will be selling the 707s again and we will have our cameras again.Ok don't trust me:)

I got it...Nothing Really Wrong.

Jay,

You are the Winner! Yes, the 707 is suffering from the Nothing Really Wrong syndrome.

Unlike the S85, which has a true focus problem, the 707 has what is much better refered to as a quirk.

I remain amazed that people here are taking 30 pictures in a row of their moulding (as though this is what they had always intended to do with their 707), and then they spend a half hour or more uploading them onto a service, in order to announce to this board that they refuse to one click the auto levels button.

I mean, really think about it, Bryan would rather screw on a 2x convertor lens every time he wants to take a zoom shot, and would rather guess at his composition through the viewfinder in bright daylight shots, and rather go into a menu to review his last shot.....all this instead of one clicking an auto levels button when he is uploading from his camera.

Like I said, what we have here is NRW syndrome.

Pardon me for butting in here, Willyee, but did you look at the samples I put up last night at
http://www.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1009&page=1&message=1688166

Did you form any opinion? I am taking more test shots tonight (also in the 640 mode--do you have to shoot high res to get the BFS to show up?) to test again what the camera is doing. But I need a little help interpreting the results I think.

Thanks

Yeehaw!! What's my prize? How about a week in Hawaii with my Dark Angel so I can shoot more than the the corner of my office 25 times!! Actually, I have some jaw-droppers on the way that will make all of you believers. Get ready for my demo of the NRW syndrome. Let's start taking serial numbers again.

Who else has a 707 that is exhibiting a strong case of NRW syndrome?

Sony today anounced the release of the 708M. The 'M' standing for "Moulding". By all accounts this will be the premier camera on the market for producing picture perfect shots of your rooms 'Moulding'. See http://www.sony.com for more information.
