PD70X available in USA

It's actually called the "HyperDrive HD 80). Aside from some cosmetic changes, it seems to be identical to the PD70X.

I received the same email (I already have a PD70X). Funny thing is, this is "old" news, as last night there were at least two threads on this forum announcing this USA availability. Now the threads seem to have disappeared. Is Phil purposely deleting any info concerning this USA availability?

I think he saw that there was a new poster whose first post looked like advertising. Maybe it was or wasn´t. I dunno, but it´s his right to make those judgement calls. He probably recognizes the pattern better than we do.

That could be, but I thought I saw more than one thread going on last night. Then again, it was past my bedtime and I could've been seeing double. LOL!

Just in case: "I am in no way affiliated with CompactDrive, HyperDrive, or Eastgear". I just have one of the untis and I love it." ;-)

There was definitely more than one threa, because I posted in two of them.

Quite curious: Super cheap price, Phil pulls the threads. Is it legit?

Like what was pointed out in one of the deleted threads, the price does not include a drive so it really is not super cheap or cheap compared to buying one from Eastgear. It's a little cheaper yes and you get support within the continent supposedly anyway.

Right you are. I saw the "HD80" nomenclature and thought the price included the big drive. Thanks for correcting me. As to support, I have been happy with Eastgear's service and communications.

Interesting... Sure looks like a PD70X... but it doesn't say it is...

I wonder if this company/name/product distributer has dealt with the issue of patents that suposedly existed with the PD70X...

Also, I wonder if this is a nock off product or if it really has some official ties to the CompactDrive product of simmilar look...

How about the most recent firmware updates? or any other firmware updates that might come out for the PD70X.... Will they work? or what?

I'd be leary of buying this product untill there were some answers to some of those questions...

Given the free shiping in the USA it's not a bad price... but then I'd still want to see some questions answered about it's origins...

I am a bit leary of any online vendor that does not indicate an actual street address or physical location. It is also the only product that they have listed on the site that I can see. A who is of the domain reveals very little as the contact names are protected another concern for me. It does say it has one an award at DMA I did not check that out. Could be fine but I will let someone else risk the security of their CC number before I do.

HD80 & PD70X are one and the same product. All firmware updates will work on both products. In fact, we can provide support, warranties and handle returns for all CompactDrives right here in the US, there is no need to ship your items out of the US and incur heavy shipping expenses.

This matter is currently being resolved with the patent owners, nevertheless it should only concern the US distributor and not end users.

You can read my other post about our origins.

How come you don't carry the HD80 with hard drives already installed? Will you carry them in the near future?

Thanks,

Stephen

Actually, I think it is a good idea that they don't come with them installed. It looks like a very easy procedure and the consumer gets to pick which size they would like. I have a 30 gb drive I'm not using and have just ordered the HD80. I think $149 is a very fair price.

I kind of figured that since the subject line of the email I recieved was:
"CompactDrive PD70X now available in USA!"

Wow, that's great to hear. Thanks!

We are currently sourcing for a reliable hard disk supplier and should be able to carry HD80 with hard disks instaled in December 2005. However as Jeff pointed out, it is fairly easy to buy any 2.5" IDE hard disk from your local computer store or from Tiger Direct,

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_hdd.asp?CatId=1277

It takes less than 5 mins to install and format:

Well it's Phil discretion to remove threads that sound like advertisements, however I hope that Phil does not remove this thread as we merely wish to provide support and answer users' queries. It's our aim to keep in the spirirt of this forum.

Recently there have been numerous enquiries regarding the website http://www.hyperdrive.com and their claims that Sanho Digital Electronics Co. Ltd (Ningbo, China) is under the Sanho Group of Companies.

We, as Sanho Digital Electronics Co. Ltd wish to state that we are not in any way linked or affiliated to Sanho LLC (USA) or Sanho Electronics Pte Ltd (Singapore). We are also not under the Sanho Group of Companies.

Hyperdrive HD80 is an OEM product of our world renowned Compactdrive PD70X and Sanho LLC is only the distributor for Hyperdrive HD80 in USA.

We regret that Sanho LLC and Sanho Electronics Pte Ltd have sought to cause confusion among our distributors and customers worldwide by some of their claims on their website.

We wish to state that EastGear Pte Ltd is the Manufacturer and International Sales Representative of CompactDrive and the official website for CompactDrive is http://www.compactdrive.com

For all Technical Support on CompactDrive products, please contact [email protected] or [email protected]

For further clarifications, please contact

What on earth is going on here?

As I said elsewhere : this will only cause confusion amongst potential buyers.

Now, where's that NexTo link .....
