We weren't ripping on you. Just pointing out a few things.
50 buck difference would not make me buy. If I'm going to buy something, I'm buying it from a place where I can return it for that little of a gain. If it was say 800 bucks or something like that, I might go for it. Also, if the only one left for that price is the display one, definitely not going to buy.
Keep in mind why such a place went out of business, their prices were insane.
Far as commissions. I think just about everyone would disagree with you on that if you took a poll. Stores based on commission are despised by just about every customer in the world. Thus why the whole business models of companies was based on getting rid of it. Saturn (the car company) was an experiment by GM on just this issue. And it was a overwhelming success. I know people who will never buy a car from anyplace else just because they don't want to go through the traditional car buying experience. They want to just walk in, see the goods, the price, and make a decision.
Far as sales people knowledge, again most would disagree. I've never heard a sales person in a electronics store have a clue about what they are saying. I've even jumped in and corrected them before to stop them from sc@wing a customer. Even at a place like a apple store, where they don't get commission, and they get trained in the product very well, all they put out is BS.
Also, probably one of the number one reasons I hate going to a place like a best buy, or circuit city is sales people coming up to me and asking me if they can help, or what not. I HATE THAT. You never approach the customer unless they show they are looking for you (staring at you hinting they need help). If you approach me, I will never buy something from you. Same goes for girl/boy scouts selling cookies and so forth. Most of us were taught you don't go up and bug a person to buy something, or in other words show up un-invited. But the sales industry forgets this.
Nothing worse then having best buy people follow you asking if they can help you and what are you looking for and so forth. Then you finally loose one, and 30 seconds later another one shows up. Never fails. I've had this happen over and over. I tell on to go away, and another shows up, then another. Sometimes one that was right next to the first one when i told that one to go away. Just let people browse in peace.
Just cause I'm walking through the Refrigerator section in route to the tv section does not mean I'm interested in fridges. And then to have the nerve to run around me while I'm walking away and stop me in my path and tell me I do want to look at them and such, and then not listening to me when I say no, is not a way to get a sale. (that was a true story).
Retail has doomed themselves from this. This is why people shop at newegg, amazon, BHphoto and so forth. They can shop in peace, no annoying sales people. Free to compare all day. Better prices, no commissions. Its rarely a issue that one can get something cheaper at a local store. Its almost always much more expensive. I have no issue paying some shipping and such, if it means not dealing with a physical store.
