Amazon.com has the 775 in stock, shipping in 2 or 3 days, priced at US$450.00. How come they are already selling it and I cannot find even a single review of this camera???

Nikon apparently did not release advance copies to the usual reviewers. My guess is that we'll start seeing some reviews real soon. But I'm wondering how Amazon came up with a list price of $499? The MSRP is only $449, and I know of one brick-and-mortor shop that will be selling it for $429.

Drew,

List price and MSRP can be two different things. I usually don't pay attention to list price on cameras, except it usually makes my computer life easier if I load a list price in the system. I'm sure Nikon has a list price although I can't remember what it is but their MSRP or MAP price is definitely $449. According to the Nikon dealer website the 775's should be shipping this week.

Before now, Amazon was stating that Nikon would release the 775 on July 21st.
Well, sooner or later -- someone will be correct on a release date.
I'm inclined to believe that Amazon had a legitimate reason to say 2-3 days.
How that effects our Dell/Gateway orders remains to be seen.

Regarding list prices and selling prices, this is kind of amusing:

Digital PC Direct is says the "regular price" is $775.95!
But their "Direct Price" is $549.99. Isn't that nice of them?

And Dbuys.com just sells the camera it for $597.

Imagine how someone would feel if they ordered there...
...and then read about the deals some of us got at Dell and Gateway ?

I guess they base their "regular price" on the model number! They probably sell the Olympus 3030 for $3,030.

Just got off the phone with local Nikon dealer. They are expecting shipment to arrive "in a couple of days."

Clearly, we're getting closer.

this board is awesome. i wouldn't have found the good deals otherwise and would likely be have bought the 775 from Outpost.com at $449 and be satisfied that i'm not paying tax. but i wouldn't be paying $549 (!??) when the nikon website says $449.

Advandig.com lists the 775 for $429.95 and they have one of the best ratings for service on ResellerRatings.com. They've been great in responding to my questions and to my order. No pressure to buy extras and, their shipping charge is one of the lowest I've seen on the internet.
