For those interested, I have comparisons of controlled scene for the four cameras in title. All shot from ISO100 to max. There are 90 photos so simply not feasible to post them (but if someone wants to take a crack be my guest) thus best to hit up the photos in this album (EXIF is available):

https://flic.kr/s/aHskwezVwx
  • nomenclature is straightforward (camera name followed by mode [M or A] and then the ISO)
  • all shots SOOC JPG's and shot w/Neutral profile (default) and AutoWB, Matrix Metering (for A mode shots) and no additional processing enabled
  • used flash for the photos labeled ...CTRL so the details can be clearly seen
  • DX cams shot @ 24mm (thus there is some edge distortion) while FX cams were at 35mm
  • RAW's available
Interesting that the D500 consistently chooses a slightly shorter exposure time for the Aperture mode shots vs. the other three.

Will be doing a candlelight ISO comparison of each cam's video modes* next using this same scene, please let me know what other objects might be helpful to include.

*for D500's 4K, will be comparing vs. LX100

Cheers,
Tim

Does "no additional processing" mean that Active D-Lighting and High ISO NR were set to Off on all cameras?

A kind fellow on another forum pointed me to a s/w and provided instructions to create these strips:
