B&H shipping date for D500

I just had a web chat with a B&H rep, and was told that their stock of D500s would not ship out until May 3.

Kind of disappointing. I will know next time to check their store closing calender. Or maybe just skip them and go straight to Amazon. Lesson learned.

they may lose my purchase. I have a local order and I might pick that up if available. Agree. Next time I will order with Amazon in the future.

If you ordered early enough to be assured of being in the first wave of deliveries, there would have been no conflict with B&H's schedule because release was initially indicated to be well before now.

If you ordered about the time Nikon announced a delay in release timing (as I did), the B&H holiday schedule might have been a relevant consideration. But if that timing for placement of an order still puts me in the first wave, I'll be one happy camper. After holding out for nearly 4 years for the D400 to be introduced, an additional 12 days ain't no biggie. Just so I get it in time to get in some practice before a major event scheduled in early June.

Meanwhile, B&H has been very generous in extending the return date for a lens I purchased to go with the new camera. It has a focus problem and I can't yet determine if it is a flawed lens or just requires auto fine tune (my current camera that shows improper focus with this lens does not have focus fine tune capability). So B&H extended the final date for return of the lens 'till 10 days following receipt of D500, regardless of how that fits with their normal 30 day return policy. Real accommodating folks.

And if a 12 day delay causes JeminiJoseph to cancel his order, maybe I'll move up a slot. :-)

I don't know what's going to happen. I ordered from B&H from day 1. I ordered locally after seeing the Nikon launch event. They said they will have enough to fill pre-orders. Let's see.

At least you guys have a shippingdate! Nikon Netherlands told me it's coming end of April but couldn't give me an exact date. Also my dealer is completely ignorent about the date, they told me Nikon is still mysterious about this.

Only on facebook some Nikon rep told me it will be released on 26th of April, but that's only a wild guess I think because later costumer service couldn't give me an answer.

I know, a few days extra isn't that bad but now it's so close I want to know the exact date :).

I can wait another week or so. I like B&H and I like saving the $165 in tax by using them instead of Amazon.
 
While I can understand those that have want/need to get the camera as quickly as possible, I'm with you. I don't need it this month and waiting another week doesn't bother me, if that is what ends up happening.

simply because I ordered really early and should get one early but to tell you the truth I still have my doubts on what kinda improvement the AF is going to be when compared to the D810 this way at least others can be the guinea pigs and try the camera out for a week or two and if the reports are on the positive side I'll keep the order in place but if a lot of folks are disappointed with it I can just cancel. Yee-haw :-D :-D
 
Should still give me some time to get a bit familiar with it before a bicycle race I wanted to use it on beginning May 15th though I was kinda hoping they might send a few out before they went into Passover closure. But it should be worth the wait.
