Absolutely no way will Canon drop their dual-pixel CMOS autofocus system -- their BIGGEST clear advantage over all competitors -- and go back to hybrid CMOS AF in the 80D.

That, I guarantee you, is NOT going to happen. You read it here. No way is Canon going to drop dual-pixel AF and go back to their older system in the midrange DSLR's.

Your rumor is WRONG.

I made a mistake in transposing the information. The focus system will be new Hexa Pixel focus system.

It looks like the 70D has gone on sale

You will see them try to exhaust the old bodies about 6 months before the announcement. Not expected this year, but next.

The same dated sensor as the T6i/T6S and the same Rebel-esqe plastic build quality? Why bother?

Because your "friend" at Canon told you that they manufacture and hold six months of inventory? With all of Canon's advanced technology, they don't understand Just-in-Time inventory and manufacturing?

Why don't you ask your imaginary "friend" if they'd plot the price decreases of Canon and Nikon cameras against the recent decreases of the Japanese Yen vs the US Dollar? You might learn something.

You should open a new rumor site with a name like iCan on Rumors.

This made me chuckle.......I work in Manufacturing and we're constantly beat up over Inventory. Canon is Japanesse and the Japaneese are very well known for Lean manufacturing (Toyota, Motorola and so on....). A company the size of Canon would not hold 6 months worth of inventory unless there was a serious obsolescence issue. The acquisition of materials and sale of finished products aka DOS (days of supply) is typically very small.

Wow! An unverified rumour about a minor upgrade to the 70D! How exciting!

Now I call it wishmor :-)

All I really want from Canon with the 80D is acceptable video quality. As good as my 7DII is for stills, I like being able to take video too much to be completely happy with it...
The 7D2 has the same 70D sensor so video performance is the same.

Well no crap...hence why I said I hope the Canon **80D** finally brings acceptable video to their dSLR lines.

IIRC the limiting factor for video quality isn't the sensor, it's how the camera reads information coming from it during movie mode. Line skipping and such are what cripple it's IQ in video mode.
