Hi all,

Hoping for some inspiration, advice and images and I know this is the place to get them! I want to see fantastic landscapes from the OMD EM10 with if possible the 14-42EZ lens.

I have a Nikon D300s set up and am off into the mountains for a hike. Thus, looking for a much lighter, smaller system. Looked that the OMD EM10 in the shop this week and was very impressed with the ergomonics, the build quality and the sales rep's elevator pitch! Looks prefect for what I want. I have seen Robin Wong's site and his work is suburb, but it is mainly people and I am looking for landscape examples. So, to be finally convinced I would enjoy seeing your landscape images from this combination.

Any other advice and tips on it and lenses, etc, always welcome. I will probably get the 40-150R and am considering either the 17/f1.8 or the 9-18, but both add a lot of cost and, while I know the merits of each, I am not sure that I would use them enough to justify the cost.

In anticipation - many thanks.........

Well this is a GH2, sensor almost as good as the EM10 sensor, with the 14-45 at 20mm F/6.3 which is probably about the same as the 14-42EZ as far as IQ goes.

You pretty much will see what you can see from any of the OM-D models in the E-M10 (though it has at least one feature the other two OM-D's don't).

The link to the Flickr gallery in the signature below has all manner of High/Low ISO, urban and rural 'scapes, hand-held and tripod studies, that may help to get your juices flowing. . . Nothing like KenW's work, but one has to have something to aspire towards, something better than themselves . . . [g]

Stunning photo...........

Ok - I'll give that a WOW - probably more than one.

All taken around Staten Island - EM10/14-42EZ. Probably not the best examples of what the combo can do but I have not really taken any trips since having both this body and lens combo where I would have taken "landscape" shots (unless you want to consider downtown Memphis and Nashville).

These were taken recently in Kauai with EM-10, the first is an HDR I took with the 9-18 mm wide angle and the second photo was taken with the 14-42 EZ. I am loving this camera and set up for travel. I also have a Nikon D90 which I have taken to Europe, Hawaii, and the Caribbean and this set up is so much lighter and easier with which to travel.

f/20 definite had eaten in the overall sharpness. M43 should not go beyong f/8+. I might rather use a faster speed.
Had anti-shock been employed?

Just my 2 cents.

A breath taking landscape picture.

But the exif indicated G1 instead of GH2? No matter what, a good demonstration to prove that having the correct technique and good understanding on the gear, a good photographer could beat the limitation of hardware.

Whoops, you are right! Forgot how long ago I took that shot and I didn't double check the metadata. So significantly worse sensor than the EM10.

And thanks for the complement!

Well, it's just one I liked. Sorry but w/ Pan 12-35 and f16 ;cuz I wanted lots of DOF on this one.

Can do e-m5 and e-m1. Should be close enough.

Hi,

Almost any modern camera with a bit of post processing will be capable of producing stunning landscape pictures in good light.

For mountains, I prefer most of the time to use the smallest/lightest gear I can get away with and took thousands of great landscapes with gf3 + 14mm f2.5. You will find billions of nice landscape taken with cameras that are a lot worse than the em10 which gives about the best IQ you can get with m4/3 right now. The location and the light will do 90% of the job of an amateur.

So yeah, do consider lighter gear.

I posted a few shots of em10 with the old 4/3 9-18 here:

Where's the sunset? :-)

Great atmospheric and moody shot, reminds me of our Scottish summers....

I have the E-M10 and a variety of lenses including the mediocre 14-42 EZ.

Personally I'd prefer to be hiking with something like a Canon G1X mk 2 with its larger sensor and better optics all in one modest package.

Woow! This must be one of the bests photos I've seen on this forum!

Congratulations, very well done :-)

The following were captured with an E-PL5 and E-M1. While being different cameras, their IQ should be exactly the same as the E-M10:

Olympus PM2 has the same sensor and refurbished by Olympus at Olympus site with two lens =$319

Ergonomics much simpler, however easy to be set usable for RAW format.
