$1099/ EF 24-105 F4L almost free with 5D3

Right, there seem to be good deals on 5D3 and here are choices

Opened new thread, as could help some else looking for as well

In general, I compare price in 3 places, Amazon, B&H, Adorama sells

1) 5D3 Body for $3499,

2) B&H combined with 24-105 f4L comes to $3999

3) Canon EOS 5D MARK III CAMRA/24-105 LENS KIT Price:$3599 (when we call or in-store)

+ $200 mail in rebate

and here is sweet deal, I chat with a guy and says if we call or instore, they give for $3599/

so I called and sales guy offered $3599/ and also 2 extreme SD cards of 45mb/sec worth $100/ so looks like EF 24-105 F4L, that costs $1099, comes free with 5D3

I asked him to remove this Lens and add either 135mm or 200mm f2.8 but he denied saying the deal comes from Canon

The 24-105 is regularly available for $650 practically anywhere in white box form. It's currently available for $660 via the "street price" deal on canonpricewatch.com. The 5D Mark III is regularly available for $2700-2800 via the "street price" deal and is $2700 right now. So, you could snag that same deal for $3460 (including the $100 worth of memory cards). You could have saved $140.

In general, if it's on CPW (canonpricewatch), it's legit. You just have to be aware of what you're purchasing. Also, CPW isn't a seller, they simply help people find great deals.

Sometimes they post deals from "unauthorized" dealers, sometimes they post "grey market" stuff, and other times it's a Canon USA warrantied product from an authorized dealer. They ALWAYS make it explicitly obvious which of the three it is in the description. Here's an article by CPW explaining all the differences... http://www.canonpricewatch.com/blog/authorized-unauthorized-dealers-and-grey-market-explained/

As for the "street price", it's Canon USA warrantied product from authorized dealers. It's just that ever since Canon started enforcing their MAP (minimum advertised price), dealers can no longer ADVERTISE their products below MAP, but as you found out with B&H, they can still SELL below MAP. So, these dealers tell CPW what they're willing to sell at and CPW acts as an intermediary and puts customers in touch with these authorized dealers. CPW asks that no one disclose WHO these dealers are but CPW guarantees it's the same types of companies you're used to ordering from. So, I would assume B&H, Adorama, etc., are the types of companies doing this, but I have ZERO proof of it. Regardless, it's equally reputable companies.

Hope this helps!

thks and appreciate that.
