Working EVF for all cams from Sigma DP Series

One user from Chinese Sigma xitek.com forum produces EVF for Sigma DP series cams.

It works with all DP Series, from first Dp1 and Dp2 to last Merrill versions.

EVF is powered with one battery, and it works with manual focusing, and have manual switcher so you can turn off camera main screen.

Yes it's cool, we should make noise about it so Sigma can hear it, we are the ones who buy their products, so they should understand our needs, and produce cheap basic EVF, and later when people would be interesed more advanced versions.

They should listen to old japanese philosophy, "simpler is better when it works".

The screen resolution is 320 x 240, EVF is in development phase, this is a small chinese company responsible for this, it will not be sold in private, but officialy as an alternative to sigma accessories.

if there is pal version you will get more resolution. Any video monitor will work with dpXm but in NTSC or PAL composite video.

Isn't it the same resolution as the original DP cameras have on the LCD? That worked just fine when it wasn't washed out by the sun, and in an EVF it won't be.

EVF is now on sale, first users in China just bought them.

Actual price: ~104 $ (650 yuan), but it will drop to level between 48-80 $ (300 - 500 yuan) if EVF will meet higher market demand.

HD screen in EVF is possible and it's not a problem for producers, but price will be higher.

EVF uses PAL, and video signal from camera, so with better internal screen and latest model of camera you will get more resolution in EVF.

In standard it uses 880mAh Li-ion 3.6V reachargeable battery, but some users use 1200mAh reachargeable battery.

EVF has a very low power consumption, it lasts the entire day taking pictures, producers tested energy consumption with Merrill cams and they notice ~ 50% lower energy consumption when main screen is turn off and EVF used.

In dp2m from nominal 50-60 pictures in high RAW (with main screen turn on) they could get 155 pictures using EVF and main screen turn off.

The viewfinder is suitable myopia.

"This product should be named the Best Product Award this year at least, very practical, take pictures now, no looking back at the camera, and in all processes i no longer need screen, i'm completely taken over by the viewfinder display, and did not feel low resolution, greatly reducing the tremor when taking pictures and press the shutter the moment jitter. Now 1/15 dared to press the shutter, which in the past, I have at least 1/125 shutter was feeling more reliable."
