Thing is, as other threads of this ilk have shown, what one person would want from an updated D700 wouldn't fit another persons needs...

Some want 24mp

Some want D800 body with D4/Df sensor

Some would prefer 12mp but faster FPS

Who does Nikon please? (Clue: Not many on DPReview ;-) )

the 12 mb sensor on that camera was great still use mine for weddings. It was made by sony They Sony haves a camera coming out with that same 12 mb my friend works for them he tells me low light will be like nothing out there better the the Nikon d3s same sensor.come on Nikon you devoted followers give us what whe want

D700 was just too good compared to D3. Current lineup put everything to right places...

The D4 and D800 combo gives me a great combination, hard to beat.

Companies like Nikon, Canon or Sony never make an 'I want camera' There will always be a camera 'for you' question is, if you want it (and even more, if you need it.)

I abandoned Nikon ans switched to another brand.

I used D200/300/700 bodies and Nikkor lenses since 2007.

Maybe. But not in one body. I ain't buying a different body for different uses.

I use my D800 for all types of shooting and have been extremely satisfied with output. I will probably run into the ground....so get a D800 or some other Nikon body that suits your needs..or keep waiting
