Do you believe that there will even be one?

Don't the Df, D800(E), D4s and D610 pretty much cover all the needs of small format photography?

Post your opinion here.

Thing is, as other threads of this ilk have shown, what one person would want from an updated D700 wouldn't fit another persons needs...

Some want 24mp

Some want D800 body with D4/Df sensor

Some would prefer 12mp but faster FPS

Who does Nikon please? (Clue: Not many on DPReview ;-) )

Everyone will say blah-blah, but the fact is that the 5DIII is selling better than any Pro/Semi Pro camera Nikon has.

So, yeah.

Isn't then the Df what you want? Its the D4 sensor in a even smaller, lighter body.

And waits and waits and waits and waits....de
the 12 mb sensor on that camera was great still use mine for weddings. It was made by sony They Sony haves a camera coming out with that same 12 mb my friend works for them he tells me low light will be like nothing out there better the the Nikon d3s same sensor.come on Nikon you devoted followers give us what whe want

Don't wait, it won't be any.

D700 was just too good compared to D3. Current lineup put everything to right places...

people are still waiting for the replacement for the f6.

What is the F6 missing that it would require a successor?

Ditto!

The D4 and D800 combo gives me a great combination, hard to beat.

I gave up.

I abandoned Nikon ans switched to another brand.

I used D200/300/700 bodies and Nikkor lenses since 2007.

I use my D800 for all types of shooting and have been extremely satisfied with output. I will probably run into the ground....so get a D800 or some other Nikon body that suits your needs..or keep waiting :)
