Considering to purchase an external charger for my NEX 6 batteries. Looking to get a good quality original Sony in stead of one of the many immitations.

Currently there seem to be 2 options:

Old version = BC-VW1 or New version = BC-QM1; Can get it new for Euro 75,=

Any recommendation on one of these.. ? any experience with the new BC-QM1 charger?

Michel I think you can have a look at this one, RavPower 14000mAh. Trust me, it's a good quality charger with a reasonable price. I see that they're now holding a deal on SD, a great offer to take. You can check it from the frontpage on SD or the link below.

Hello Michel,

If you already owned the old-style charger, it works perfectly fine, but since you don't, I'd recommend the new BC-QM1 charger since it adds charge status lights and a USB port that would allow you to hook up a cord to your camera and charge that while charging a spare battery if you wish.

This would be my recommendation as well. In addition the BC-QM1 has a quick charge mode, and even in standard charge mode will recharge the NP-FW50 faster than the original charger from Sony, and faster than most of the no-name not-properly-tested junk out there on the internet.

The BC-QM1 also charges multiple Sony battery pack types, so if you ever do pick up another camera or camcorder, the QM1 stands a good chance at being the right charger.

Charge status lights and the USB port are good features.

Little update: I just received the new Sony BC-QM1 external charger. Looking at pictures the charged seemed rather bulky, but the size actually surprized me - it's not that big at all.

It looks like a realy well made quality charger. I'm happy with, my decision to get this one.

In my view there is a good Sony charger BC-TRW. It is a dedicate W battery charger. It is compact and quite reliable. I just bought it and used it several times. It has LED indicators and complete charge indicator. I've ordered it from B&H and 2 days after got it.
