Everyone who was hankering after a new Micro Four Thirds forum got their wish. It sets a precedence because we've never created a non-brand-specific forum which is dedicated to gear talk. Because of this we've also decided (for now) not to move any existing threads into this forum, but if you have an opinion let it be heard now.

You should reply to this thread by changing the SUBJECT LINE, we would also like to know which camp you are from (Olympus / Panasonic). If you think we should move threads say 'Yes - ' followed by your brand, example:
  • Yes - Panasonic
  • Yes - Olympus
  • No - Panasonic
  • No - Olympus

Moving threads is probably also the best way to get this forum kickstarted.
Otherwise, people will stick to posting in the other forum(s).

But I do wonder how you are going to split some things up.
Especially the threads containing comparisons etc.
Probalby just decide where the center of gravity of a thread lies?

Previous post of considerations :
I see the rationale for such a dedicated forum.
BUT, on the other hand :
1. where would you post comparison threads? It would result in a lot of cross posting (not that we don't have any redundancy now...)
2. people wanting to scan information on different systems and cameras, would have even more forums to keep track of. Currently I am following Oly SLR, Oly non-SLR and Panasonic (with occasional stops in News, Open Talk and others).
3. although different systems, µFT and regular FT still feel like a community (also with the Oly and Panasonic compacts users) : we would not want to lose that sense of community
4. the systems are (meant to be) compatible : the forums should reflect that.
I am pretty sure that DPR staff are taking all of that into consideration, and it is not an easy job to determine the best way forward. There is no single perfect solution.

I can see some crossover issues regarding using 4/3 lenses with u4/3 bodies and the like leading to cross postings, but I think it needed to be done!

If there's going to be a new forum then I think it makes sense to move all the existing EP1 specific threads into there...

Thanks
