From a stupid user too. The instructions talk about Front dial 1 through to 4. Says pressing the dial in cycles through these. However I can't seem to make that work.

Personally I'm set up with front on aperture (only works on my 27/2.8) and the rear on on ISO but switching 1 through 4 on the front dial is bugging me. At least I've remembered the reason the focus point jumps around is the touch scree and disabled that.

I would say the T50 and the new 16-50 is excellent.

Thank you. The hint about saving others hours of work has decided me. Front is aperture for ringless lenses, rear is ISO and I'll stick at that. The instructions make is sound so simple...

Indeed. I leave the back command dial on SS (for long exposures) and have ISO on a button, but it's trivially easy to long-press the front dial and change either dial "on the fly" as and when needed.

The main problem with the front dial is SS, I haven't really tried it with much else after finding it annoyed me more having to remember which setting was current (or check the display carefully) than the extra step of just pressing a button to pop up a menu.

FYI...I posted this in another thread about Front Command dial issues.

Hi,

I have a new XT50 since October 2, 2025 with latest firmware and I too have a Front Dial issue, even after trying every suggestion to be found on the web. I have only gotten the Front Dial to work for Film Simulation settings, not Aperture control or Shutter control. Some particulars:

I assigned Front Command 1 to "F" (aperture), 2 to SS, 3 to Film Simulation, 4 to none.

My lens is a new XF 16-50mm f2.8-4.8. It has an Aperture ring that can be set to A or Manual. According to Fuji's own website FAQ, if your camera has the option "Aperture Ring Setting (A)" you should set this to "Command". Others added that you also need to put the lens itself in "A" mode. This should make it possible to set the aperture with the Front Command dial. This did not work for me, nor did having the lens in M mode.

When I press the Front Command dial it does not cycle through the 1 to 3 button assignments. It just invokes the Film Simulation menu.

I set the Rear Command dial to manage ISO, and this works fine.

Any new ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks for joining in. I've given up on the front dial unless the lens lacks an aperture ring. Life is too short to explore the multiple options and Fuji's not invariably clear instructions!

For what it's worth, I just posted in the other thread on this subject, confirming that all is working as it should with my X-T5. I listed my settings, and the same options seem to be available on the X-T50 from looking in the manual, so hopefully that might help.
