I just took a picture with the shutter speed set at 4 (so, 1/4 second). When I downloaded it, I noticed the Exif said 1/5th second. Back at the camera and, sure enough, at the bottom of the display, it said "ss5". Changed it to 8 and then back to 4 and it then said "ss4"

I haven't been able to set it to 1/5 second since.

Anyone else seen this? Was it something I did?

You most likely have “SS operation” set to “on” and SS assigned to one of the dials in the menu. This enables the dial to adjust SS in 1/3 stops.

Personally I detest this feature because, as you’ve noted, you often inadvertently end up with a different shutter speed to the one you thought you set and which the dial is showing.

However, if you ever do long exposures then it’s essential to have it turned on because otherwise when you turn the dial to “T” it’s completely impossible to change the shutter speed.

Why Fujifilm implemented this way is baffling and infuriating.

Thanks. Found it. It's the rear dial.
