I said it before, I'll say it again; who cares???

It's how the camera takes pics, not what the camera looks like, esp since it's such a small thing like camera color. Geez some of you guys would rather not buy the camera just because of it's color. I mean i understand cars, clothes but cameras, that's a tad bit on the pathetic side.

What is worse is that you guys come on here and b*tch about it. Yes, i am contradicting myself by b*tching about you but I am tired of "I hate Silver G3" threads.

We should be talking about picture color not camera colors. Color of cameras indeed... pffft

The color of the camera is, IN SOME CASES, important. Of course a discreet color is more discreet. But for me there is a more important issue, a black camera is HOTTER under the SUN than a champagne one. In my G2 the Canon lens adapter (black) was hotter (very, very hot) than the camera (champagne) and with an electronic camera this is important because high temperature is the first enemy of electronics. Yes, I know somebody says "I have a black camera and had no problem". Well, good luck to you.
Beside this the color of camera is secondary for me.

I would like to add that in certain cirscunstance metallic colors may reflect unwanted lights to the subject altering the lighting setup.
Black matte in that sense is better.
My 2H cents.

Color of the camera doesnt matter. To me the question is:

Why does Canon sell this silver s* t when most people want black cameras?

Are they just so stupid or arrogant or do they want to really milk us when they lower themselfes to offering a black G3 in 6 month?

Does canon not care what the customer wants?

Are you going to tell us where we have to draw the line, when choosing colors of our stuff? Why is a camera different from clothes or cars .... firstly it's not cheap and secondly it's personal.

Maybe you don't choose the colors of your PC, monitor, MP3 player, discman, hi-fi, tv .... but many of us give a damn what color coding we are used to or like to be associated to.

Dunno which is worse, the ones who complain about products or the ones who complain about complainers.

Almost every professional external flashes, and other add-ons are black. A black camera would look better with these additions.

Why do people care? Because it's more professional to look professional, and having clashing instruments just doesn't look as good.

Wouldn't you think it was kind of odd if you went to a restaurant and were served w/ a black fork, and a red spoon and fork? Sure, they may function the same, but YOU WILL NOTICE.

My only worry about the externals of cameras is the flashier it looks, the more likely it is to get stolen. That's actually one of the reasons I'm considering an A40 - it just about looks like a standard 35mm compact camera (except from the back of course :) )

Well well....
I have some points to mension here;

1. No one of all the "photographer" who replied to this thread ever said anything about the Black G2, being released after the Shampaigne G2 has a newer software and as far as I know, Canon has fixed some of the bugs there.

2. I have a shampaigne G2, Silver EOS 300, Black 220EX, black 75-300 zoom lense, silver tripod and a green Lowpro back bag. Does anyone really think that any of the targets I've shot so far ever did care about my multi-colour tools???? if so, then I guess I have found the reason why some of the pictures I took didn't turn out as good as I expected them :(

3. If this forum is gonna waste some good MBs on such topic and leave more critical and important questions unanswered, then I guess it's time for me (and many other serious photographer) to look for another forum, one which does care about the quality of the pictures not on how cool the photographer looks....

And I would like to add:

When I was travelling around the poorer parts of eastern europe, I could feel the people watching me and my luggage. Although I consider myself a not-too-rich student, over there I was a wealthy kid from the west. At a few occasions, it kept me from taking out my shiny silver G2. I would have preferred a black camera in those situations. Especially when you keep the lcd folded in and just use the viewfinder, for the untrained eye, your G2 looks at least 400 euros cheaper.

If this is your attitude, you won't be missed.

Sorry.

Eh... I really wish we could edit posts...

I forgot to mention that this topic is obviously VERY secondary to the quality of the photos. And if color wasn't important, Canon would have only released one color. ;)

Relax, there are plenty of professionals here. And questioning the types of people at this forum due to such a trivial topic is a waste of time. Just enjoy yourself, and continue posting great pics.
