I know you don't know. But try to guess. I read somewhere where the 350d is getting the "100,000-count shutter like the 20D" instead of the 10,000 count shutter that the 300d got.

With that in mind, I want to try to gauge where everyone is. We do this on one of my car forums. That way we can all say "yep at XX,XXX I had this problem, or that problem." This way we can plan on expected problems and take preventative measures. I'm terrified 'my precious' will die in the middle of a wedding on me. (yes I have a back-up, but like all back-ups it's not as good as the primary).

Here is my info:

Bought 20D: 10-10-04

Estimated shutter count: 25,000-30,000

Wedding photog.

Problems: few.
Scattered error 99's
Several with hitachi 2.2MD

Plan: Next January after the season and holidays are over, I plan to ship it in to have the shutter assembly replaced. Estimated count at the time: 80,000-100,000

I have about 2200 since November last year. A lot of them were just tests since I was working on the makernote information - but probably around 1000 real photos.

I know you don't know.
Well, if you're interested you CAN find out.

If you shoot a RAW file and bring it up in C1, than go to 'Collection' -> 'show annotations' this will give a dialog box. the top line is the camera serial number followed by the camera actuations.

Just in case anyone is actually interested.

David

A bit over 3700 in about three months. No problems whatsoever so far.

Sorry, but I think you are wrong... that number doesn't even gets close to my actual number of actuations...

It is completely accurate on mine, even after some odd numbering due to different CF cards being inserted, the number is the furthest right hand one

Thanks for the info David. I have a 20D but software that cam with it was Digital Photo Professional and EOS ViewerUtility. So where do i get C1 as i would really like to know the number of actuations.

Bought 20D - January 2, 2005

I currently have 1,442 shots on my 20D and 11,302 on my 300D. Time to shoot more!

Wedding photographer & I have been shooting quite a bit of shots of my newly-under-construction home.

Problems: none.

Just checked my count in C1 and it is all over the place and doesn't relate to my actual shots taken.

Now this may be due to the fact that I format my CF card every now and then. Also the numbers do run sequentially on any one shoot but vary between different shoots.

Do you just use the same CF card all the time and not format?

I have the camera for week, did some 1000 jpgs and almost no RAWs. The number shown by C1PRO (caprure annotations) is 16 right now, it was 12, 4 RAWs ago;)

I don't have my copy of C1 on this pc, but from memory you select the RAW thumbnail and find the menu item 'show annotations', I can't remember which menu it is on. This is where you find the camera serial and the shots taken, it does not matter about CF or SD usage, this info comes straight from the camera body.

We checked this quite thoroughly over at Rob Galbraith and it worked (and was a lot easier than the german program you can get)
