This may have been posted previously (I did search the Archives) if so I apologize. This may help someone in the future.
I just got back from a 2 week trip to Costa Rica. My setup was a Nikon 1 V2 and 4 lenses. Near the end of the trip I noticed the rear LCD screen was not coming on. (Something the camera was sent to Nikon a year ago). It only worked in very bright light When I got back I cleaned the camera thoroughly and notice the eye sensor was very dirty probably due to the humidity. When I cleaned it thoroughly the rear LCD screen worked perfectly.
I guess because it was so dirty it would not let any light in making the camera "think" that my eye was at the viewfinder and there was no need for the rear LCD screen. My tip is always keep that sensor clean.
