Just managed to find appropriate mfg code for the programmable rc that came with Yamaha AV receiver RX-V630RDS in order to trigger D70 (rc model RAV241)! Code number is 1691 (one of the few Sanyo TV codes). After programming you can use any of the eight buttons: all odd program numbers, +TV volume, -TV channel and TV input. It is best to set it on channel "A" that "...sets the r.c. to operate other component without changing receiver's input source...". I'm not sure wheter this code is Yamaha's own numbering, or something universally accepted.
This RC is rather large to carry arround, but is quite OK to use at home!
Happy triggering,
Miljenko

Excellent find, did it take you long :O)

I wonder if this'll work from iPAQ Nevo remote as well...

Thanks

Yamaha's manual doesn't state TV sets model numbers, so the one I've found is just one of many Sanyo codes in receiver's manual. I could only guess that some other brand code could work too, but the one that works is the first I've run into. It could be that Yamaha's code numbering got nothin' to do with others' !?

I simply tested the codes mentioned for sanyo's in the philips manual. The third one behaved like you described. Maybe that more codes will work, but the sanyo was a good starting point for me, and I didn't have to go through the 1000 other codes. so tnx for the suggestion!

On my old Yamaha DSP-A595a (remote model RAV175), I tried with Sanyo codes, and it worked with code 0011.

I also took that step... although you should follow the forum rules, and remove the gear from your signature... it messes up with the search function.

Hi,

I tried our programmable Provision remote Control (9 euros) and tried, in the Sanyo section, the several combinations, after a while I succeeded with 308.

De D70 works fine, I tried from 6 meters distance, no problem. In Holland you can buy the remote control at Blokker.

So it is worth trying, I probably will buy another remote for photographic use, so the kids can have their remote back.

Bye,

Mark

de blokker .. had one for sale for 4,99 also. works great.
but did you find out how to actually use 7 different controls?

I can't find a way to access the ones mentioned next to the normal buttons, like cd next to tv. It only works for one device .. so I don't get past 4 in 1.

Hoi Gart,

Just tried it with a cheap universal Philips remote control (SBC RU 254).
And it works!
Code used is 0038 (button "1" triggers the D70)
Thanks very much for this tip, because the ML-L3 remote is hard to get here.

Miljenko,

I don't know how much time it took you to chase down the code but thanks for the tip!

Works with my Dish Network (silver model) remote control. Use TV code 609 and the 7 button to activate. BTW, I was able to shoot from behind the D70 by aiming the remote at a wall 20 feet in front of the camera - the IR beam bounces off the wall and is strong enough to get back to the camera to activate it. I've also had limited success by setting up a mirror at a strategic location in front of the camera if outdoors - you just have to align the mirror until you can see the reflection of the camera from where you are pointing the remote.

I've got a very tiny (2"x3") learning remote I'm going to dig out of storage and I'm going to store this code in it's memory - now I will have a very small remote I can pack and carry in my camera bag.

Can't get hold of a ML-L3 or ML-L1.

I have a Sanyo TV - the remote doesn't work !

My HP-IPAQ Nevo - none of the Sanyo codes work !

Other remotes with Sanyo codes - nothing works !

Don't know what to try next. Learning remotes don't help because you first need something that does work.

Thanks

(O/T) You can/should use a picture instead.

As for this thread, thx for the tip. I just had an extra remote convieniently lying around (Philips) and it worked with the aforementioned code 0038. Now if I only could a smaller one...

btw. tested the remote outside, and the range seems to around 8 meters. Also for landscape shooting purposes, I too might need to make some construction to get the remote work from behind of the camera. Maybe some bent, thin metal plate attached between the camera and the tripod plate? Ideas anyone?
