I have a Godex v860ii C, for Canon. I want to mount it on my OM-1 and use the flash in manual, not TTL. Is there a way to use this combination? When I put the flash on the camera (on manual mode, not TTL, not multiflash), the red sensor on the flash lights up (?), and when i press the shutter, the flash does not fire.

I have used Canon flashes on manual with my olympus and OM-1 in the past, but always with a remote trigger that has a single contact. Is that the key?

In this case, i do want to have the flash on the camera. Any suggestions?

any help is much appreciated.

Tape over all but the middle contact? Seems like that would make it a "dumb" manual flash.

Happy experimenting.

Yup, that's the way I make "foreign" flashes behave.

Recommended to use 3M Magic Tape as it leaves no residue.

If you are willing to use the flash off-camera, then you can get a Godox remote trigger (X-Pro O, X3O etc, for Olympus) and use it to control the flash, even TTL and HSS are available. and manual control, off course. The triggers can control several flashes at the same time and are not too expensive.

Have a nice day!
