Updated DP1 site...

I have to keep telling myself, "I do not need another camera, I do not need another camera, I do not need another camera . . ."

But I want one.

It's amazing to read on the current and recent threads so many opinions of (apparently) non-Sigma users about why this camera (and the SDs before them) aren't viable because they don't meet a predetermined way of the posters' shooting style. And for those of us who productively and enjoyably shoot with the SDs this little jewel is another tempting tool or toy for our passsion. Sigh, I must wait a while. But I covet.

Kind regards,

Well this camera has got me excited enough to break my 2+ year silence on this site! LOL! I was happy just being a daily spectator...

I'm so glad that Sigma has decided to forge this path, as I hope others will follow and give us serious (hobby) photographers and the working pros the tools we really need. I quite like the Foveon layered film-like sensor concept and wish that more camera manufactures would adopt it. 4-6 very high quality MP is (practically speaking) the most any of us would ever need.

This camera along with my newly acquired Canon G9 will give me all the range I require; from the high-IQ sensor and dedicated 28mm lens of the DP1, to the flexible walk around 35-210mm lens and quite decent IQ (in RAW) of the G9. This two camera kit will fit nicely in a compact side bag, backpack, or waist-pack and not load me down. What else could a nature/landscape photographer want?! My only fear is... what am I going to do with all my great Nikon DSLR and lens gear now? The combo mentioned above might just replace most of it! Selling it is not an option since I would loose too much $$$. In the end it’s a good problem to have. :-)

Anyhow, I commend Sigma and Foveon for their forward thinking!

Hurray for us!

Dennis.
