Camera was writing to Micro SD. Unintentionally and for first time since I've had Zf .

At high shutter speed and taking a few / burst, some pics are not fully there. It's OK, I am not missing any overall of any scene I wanted. Is this fault in speed writing to micro SD or something else? The amount of fault size varied each time; from narrow strip to almost the entire frame. It was likely a clue that on review of any photo, on LCD, a magnified view was noted that it could not be possible. But no view of any pic showed an error, as below.

I did not see that SD card was not 'anchored in' on last use to transfer pics off it to PC. Having the SmallRig grip base on the bottom and everything being all black materials do not help the matter. Will have to always double check SD card closing the bottom flap.

I used micro SD slot for three weeks because of nearly the same reasons as you (my SD card slot was broken, and so the card was not inserted and I didn't notice), but I've never had any issue with it. All pictures were fully written.

I'd say : try to change your micro SD card and see if you have the same issue. Also, try to use a manual dust blower to remove potential dusts from the camera reader/slot, if ever. (keep the slot facing downward while blowing).

This is why i would strongly recommend shooting backup (to two cards) if you can. This is half the reason I bought the Zf over the Zfc. That being said, this may be the result of a bad card, not necessarily the write speed. Because once the buffer fills the camera will have to finish writing to the card, so I'm giong with possibly a bad card. Do you have another one to try?

I haven't run into this issue myself (in any fashion, writing ot just one card or both cards) and I've done many quick bursts with the camera. The other possibility would be if you turned the camera off while it was still writing. From my experience though (and accidentally I've done this) it will stay on until it's done writing to the card(s) and then power off. At least ti's supposed to. Now if one of the cards came out or came loose during writing, that can also probably cause this, although I'd expect to see a more corrupted photo.

I always check to make sure the cards click into place before closing the battery door. I do somewhat dislike that they are inserted in the battery chamber (facing down, versus sideways in all other cameras) as i feel that even a bump could cause a card to slip out, although this has never happened to me.

Thanks,

This was the only time I've removed the card since its original placement in March 2024.

Still, pleased it was a small pct. of the pics and only if 1 amongst a small burst. I can try another card as an experiment and keep my eyes open in future for any posts regarding similar occurrences. Also, explanation of best use of that microSD. If I left it out, though, settings would not have allowed me to take any photos with SD not fully inserted.

I'd still rather buy Sandisk cards. Lexar has too bad a reputation. By the way, the latest card that failed for me was a Lexar.
