Hi everyone,

I’m having a pretty frustrating issue with my Ricoh GRIII and GRIII X when trying to use the USB C port for live view through a video capture card.

Here’s the story: the GRIII X used to work perfectly with this setup, but one day it just stopped working altogether. I switched to the GRIII, which was working intermittently for a while, but now that’s become extremely inconsistent too. At this point, it barely connects, and I can’t get a reliable video feed at all.

I’ve tried multiple capture cards, including high-end ones like the Elgato 4K Cam Link, and swapped out several USB cables just to rule out any hardware issues. The weird thing is, the USB port works flawlessly with the wired shutter release cable, so the problem seems to be specific to live view output.

Has anyone else had this happen or figured out a way to fix it? I’m really hoping it’s something I can troubleshoot and not just a limitation of the cameras. I'm just wondering if it's just poorly implemented by Ricoh?

Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Never used this wired option, but seems to be related to settings rater than hardware.

You are trying to sent a lot of data in live view. I might be that the camera simply cannot transmit thi smuch data at the requested output.

Can yo try to lower the settings?
