Tricks to aligning 1/4" quick release plate forward?

Do I need to get a mini 'cheese plate' that can be mounted on this with top nut? If so, wouldn't I have to align the quick release plate to cheese plate? Or does everyone use ball mounts with these plates?

Basically, if I screw this one with =|= 1/4" connector it's not aligned when fully tightened.

I'm not interested in ball points; just want super minimalistic QR that's aligned forward.

What's the trick here? :-(

The plate would usually be screwed into the base of a camera, etc.,then to be clamped in by a clamp, a part of or attached to a tripod head, gripping the bottom grooves. but it's not clear if we are looking to the top or bottom of the other item.

More pics might help.

That’s exactly right. The piece shown in the photo attaches to the base of the camera, not the tripod.

I think "we" need more information as to what you are trying to accomplish here. The plate is a fairly identifiable part but the other thing is really hard to tell what it is and what's going on with it. Is it part of a tripod or tripod head, is the base of a camera?

More photos form a couple of angles or farther back.

When it comes to Arca Swiss compatible plates, some will have a slot for the screw, some just a centered captive screw. I don't know of a square plate with a slot that would provide for 1/4" forward adjustment. The slots usually support side to side adjustments with rectangular plates.

Is that a CA009 QR set? If so, that is the receiver in the pic, and would normally get attached to a tripod head with bolt from the bottom (allowing you to position it however you like) or an existing arca clamp. I can't tell what you're trying to attach it to though. If it is a tripod or other type of support, it may require an external bolt going through the receiver plate into it, but the CA009 doesn't support this. You could use a double male to male 1/4-20 to connect the two, but then you wouldn't he able to position it exactly in the direction you wish.

Agree. If this is the receiver part of the Neewer set it should attach to a tripod head, which would have a bolt sticking up.

I'm not sure what that lower part would be, but I don't think these two parts are intended to be attached directly. I don't know how you would connect them. You could use a short quarter-inch stud, but you could not control the orientation of the two parts. So that seems impractical.

As others have said, more photos would help.
