Having arrived just after the original Z6/Z7 pair, the Z50 is most in need of a mark II, or a Z70.
I have worked with my Z50 for a year and a half now and have earned its purchase price several times over. Me, I don't want or need a Z500. There are FF Z cameras that fulfill that role beautifully.

A simple, evolutionary update to:

HEIF/HEIC
A 24 MP low-noise sensor
Faster processor
Deeper buffer
H.265 10-bit video
4K60fps, 6K30fps, Open Gate 30fps video

Larger fully articulated rear LCD/OLED

multi-battery accessory grip

banks for User settings

SD type II

USB-C
Bluetooth Earphone monitoring

I only need 30mp and industry leading IBIS design with video in mind. Maybe even an optional crop mode with a higher level of stabilization as an option.
Larger fully articulated rear LCD/OLED
Doesn't need to be larger, would hurt battery life, smaller bezels and hard buttons, YES.
multi-battery accessory grip
EN-EL15c would be enough of an improvement for me
banks for User settings
I don't like banks as much as user modes, but 5 recall settings would be welcome.
SD type II
CFE-A and a micro SD-II slot OR two micro-SD II's for me please.
The Z50 seriously should have been a USB-C device!
Bluetooth Earphone monitoring
Would hurt battery life, but I'm open to it. A multifunction hot shoe would be nice.

I'm not holding by breath, but I'll probably buy whatever they offer next.

I'm 99.9999% sure nikon is never going to use CFE-A.

It's such an awful standard, and would be useless if you want to upgrade to the ff cameras (since they use type b).

Definitely want IBIS

You don’t want a larger body but you want a larger battery :-| How do you propose adding IBIS and an EN-EL15c in the current body?

I too would love a Z50ii with a little higher MP and IBIS without increasing the size too much.

I agree, but logically if you wanted dual card slots, nearly the same size body, and an improvement in performance, it makes both possible. They don't make any sense on the A7IV though! LOL

I do not care about all that. Current tech in Z50 is more than enough for me. Just to give you another perspective ;)
Larger fully articulated rear LCD/OLED
Please, no! Articulated screen is awful for candid street photography, as you can't operate it as fast and people start to noticing you. Also the off-axis screen demands mental adjustment when you are trying to level your shot.

Tilting screen of Z50 is much, much better for my needs. A bigger one would be nice, but I do not see much physical space for that without increasing the body size. Maybe one could reduce borders of the current display a bit, but that would demand some creativity with hinges, which are currently residing in the cavities of the display back and increase its borders by few millimeters.
multi-battery accessory grip
I suppose it is better needed in a higher tier model, like Z70. But if the Z50 II will move up in its rank, then yes, sure.
banks for User settings
U1/2 is fine with me. But both banks and user modes have their problems with not being able to assign some settings to them. That has to be fixed.
SD type II
Can't care less, as SD type I is fine with me.
USB-C, Bluetooth Earphone monitoring
Yes, please!

As for me, I would really like to see these stupid sensor buttons go. It is impossible to use them with the eye at the viewfinder or in the dark (they are not illuminated). Terrible ergonomics!

IBIS would be nice, as well as trickling down functions from newer models. Especially more choices with customization would be greatly appreciated - I hate the current limitation of what can be bound to what button.

Starting to look like the Sony A6700 I am considering buying :)

Over 2 years using the Z 50.

For me its a wildlife tool.

I dont shoot people ( see them every day and this only a hobby) .

Shooting wildlife and BIF mostly.

So...seems no replacement yet...and Nikon seems to put most of its eggs in the FX basket.

I might still keep the Z 50.

I,like it.

But I want more custom settings, more assignable function buttons...faster AF and better AF tracking.

Better battery and USB C is nice but optional for me.

Seems the A6700 is the one
