So little talk/speculation about the D600...

Well I guess it could be very popular here but there is indeed nothing new about the predicted D600 in the internet. So there might be to little news to talk about.

Although this is strange. We can expect this camera in this summer and when its specifications are right and the price is about E 1500,- it must be a real hit in the market. And certainly it will seriously drop secondhand prices from D3 types or D700. But I don't know how it's possible to keep these cameras secret with an embargo. Before we see them in the announcements at least a thousand people on earth will know exactly when this camera is on its way to us. Announcements and documentation is ready weeks before these official moments. Employees in factories will know these secrets months before we do and I guess websites like DPreview or Amazon or B+H will know a lot more at this moment. How can this be kept a secret with our open internet and twitter and whatever modern fast communication...

Imo Nikon will hold up news about the D600 as longs as possible until the photokina. In this way they can sell a lot more of D800's. For me personally it's only interesting to see the price dropping from secondhand D3's. Probably my next hobby full-frame camera...

It's an interesting option if rumors are right. I wished it had the better Af system, not D7k's as rumored. Which sensor? Sony's rumored to appear also in the A99 or a new Nikon or Aptina? There's a rumor that Aptina is designing an FF sensor for Nikon, this could be it, with off-sensor PDAF like V1's.
I anticipate it won't be popular here... but will sell tons out where people put wallet to retail counter.

Good shooting and good luck

No new rumours = no new discussion.

Three stages will happen, and discussion will ramp up with each:

1) When that body appears and gets in reviewers hands, 2) when downloadable raws become available for analysis (bobn2, bclaff, marianne, etc,) and 3) especially when the bodies get into shooters' hands - then well see some real activity here.

I expect to see an active troll contingent weigh in as well throughout, trying to pit D800/D4 owners against D600 owners :)

Of course, stage zero is before all these, and is where we're at now:

0) Nikonrumours

Just curious, but why don't you think a $1500 FX will sell well in Los Angeles? Or, are you talking about the US in general?

Personally, I think it will be a major hit. People will finally have an enthusiast stepping stone into full frame digital photography. I think it will easily out-sell the D800/E lines and any other D300 replacement Nikon could have come up with.

I'm also not sure where people put wallets to retail counters anymore than other places. Maybe you could tell me where "here" is and where that other place where the wallets hit the counters is.

They will sell a ton of those cameras, so you can expect most of the talk to be about order dates, retailer strategies, and general apoplexy over Nikon's handling of distribution.

I suspect the most entertaining discussion will be where DPR places the D600 within the forums. Fireworks!

Yeow. I didn't think of that. Can you imagine if it was here with the other full frame models? We'd have all those questions like: ;)

"I got my new D600 yesterday, but it only came with one lens. What should I buy to go with it? I like to take pictures of family, holidays, travel, really close stuff, wildlife, birds and my kids growing up. My daughter is in school plays and I want to take movies of that as well. Which lens would be my best choice."

"My budget cannot exceed $300. Once I get paid for my first Wedding job, the price won't be so important."

Its most certainly welcome and probably made in Mass in Thaliand hopefully putting extra pressure on Canon and their inflated price on the 5d MK 3 - hope Nikon can address QC problems and initial production shortages - or at least get enough information out to customers and suppliers.

Hope they won't jack the price of the D600 by £200 again...

If they're trying to troll, that's the wrong target. The people who will really hate the D600 are D300(s) owners, because the D600 represents Nikon handing that price point over to FX, and the D7x00 line being likely to become the top DX.

I speculate that it will have AutoFocus problems with the outer focus points. :)
I think it will have hot pixels. ;)
