I have a 10L Peak Design Sling Bag but it is driving me crazy for how thin it is, it makes top access for putting a camera in and out rather difficult. I use a Z8 which obviously is not the smallest but I don't think its unreasonable

3 bags

-Wndrd Rogue 9L

-Nomatic Peter McKinnon 8L Sling

-Moment Rugged 10L Sling

These 3 bags seem to have awesome wide openings to get to the gear and enough space for the Z8 plus 2 primes, which is usually what I have with me, and a couple accessories.

Just looking to see if my view of them is correct? The opening looks great. Looking for other opinions on them too! I can NEVER find these locally which is too bad and i'd love some input before blindly ordering.

I use this, pd seems hard, this bag is softer:

Not a real sling bag, but I like the Thinktank retrospective 5L. It can hold a z8 with 2 primes easily and is easy accessible. In addition it also holds my z8 with prime attached and z24-120 next to it.

I used it on several travels and find it very comfortable to carry, more then the peak design 6L, which feels heavier, can carry less and harder to access.

A friend was showing me his new Wndrd backpack. I couldn't get past how dark the interior was; black dividers in black interior. I need a flashlight to see what's in it. I don't think black is a suitable color for the interior of a camera bag.

Think Tank Photocross could suit you (?)

I've never thought much of any Wndrd products. They seem like they are trying to be hipster but need to put more effort into products than marketing.

I worked with a guy who had one of their backpacks and was shocked at how much he paid vs what he got.

I never recommend slings.

Just to make it clear - you are talking 10L v1 or v2 sling bag...?

V2. I’ve had my share of difficulties getting the Z8 out quickly. The opening is rather narrow, I didn’t update this because I ended up just getting the PD Messenger bag which works well.

Ah, ok, thanks for the follow-up.

I didn't use any of Peak Design's 10L sling bags, nor messenger ones - I was using their 5L v1 sling bag for years, until the zipper broke, then continued using a replacement 6L v2 sling bag they sent as part of the warranty claim, also for a few years now, both slings being more than enough for my Fujis.

That’s awesome, the Z8 is incredible, it has one issue, its size. Notably its height where the EVF is compared to its peers and that’s where I’ve had a lot of issues with it fitting. I used the 10L to carry A7RIV, 35mm on the camera, 85 1.8 and then either a 14-24 sigma or 24-70. It worked great but didn’t quite fit the Z8 as comfortably. However the messenger is almost the same size on paper but the extra depth makes all the difference.

Messenger - L-16.1”xW-6.7”xH-11.8”

Sling 10L - L-16.5”xW-5.9”xH-10.2”
