I bought my S2IS in the summer and was very pleased with it until it suddenly developed a bright fixed pixel on the sensor - strictly, when you looked at high zoom, it seemed to be a small clump of red pixels at the same location in every photo. The company I bought it from gave me a replacement camera which seems to be fine. I am otherwise very happy with the S2 and decided to go ahead and buy an A620 as a more portable back-up. It arrived today and I took about 40 pictures before I noticed - you guessed - a fixed pixel. When I looked back, it is visible on all the photos. On closer inspection, there is also another one, although it is not so obvious. Anyone else having this problem with either camera? I had it once, several years ago on an Epson but have never seen it on the Sonys or the Lumix I have had in between. Given that that sensors on the Canons are probably made by Sony, this almost seems like a Canon quality-control issue.

i had a dead pixel in the sensor of my a75 a few years ago, got it fixed under warranty. you should be warned, dead/hot pixels are common in ALL digital cameras, though most of the time they are very small and barely noticable. mine in the a75 was actually rather large, maybe the size of a blurry nickle at 100%.

from i have read and seen, pixels go bad in all cameras at one point or another as time goes on. it's just one of the weaknesses of digital photography, esp for lower end cameras like p&s. i haven't seen any problems w/ my s2 yet though.
good luck!
