I have a: SL601, SL2-s and a SL 3.

I also have two Leica SL/TL to M adaptors, one black and one silver.

On the SL 3 body, with a Summilux 50mm M lens, the black adaptor doesn’t allow focussing the reach the point of focus at infinity and the silver goes past the point of focus at infinity.

Am I just unlucky…?

I had this set up.with an SL without any issues.

Were the adapters made by Leica or a third party?

Both genuine Leica products from a genuine Leica dealer, so the pukka thing.

I haven’t bothered to check all my lenses with all the cameras, can’t be bothered. I am using the one, which goes past infinity focus, on the SL3 with the 50 ‘lux and the one, tthat doesn’t reach infinity, focus on the SL601 with a 24 Elmarit ( where it doesn’t really matter )

You may just be unlucky. I have the adapter and have used it on my CL with my Elmarit 24 and Voigtlander Classic 35 Nokton without any issues.

sounds about right. In practical terms, not a problem.

I too have used a Leica M-L adapter on a SL2-S body and with all M mt lenses I tried, focusing, especially to infinity was virtually spot on. Since each lens is calibrated a bit different, there could be some variation "but" the same lens on each of your two adapters, should focus exactly the same and not have the variation seen between both M-L adapters as you indicated, in my experience.

** I also sent you a "message" mentioning another somewhat related topic. Thanks

Is there a screw on the M ‘ lux 50mm which restricts the travel of the lens as it focuses?

If the adapter does not allow focusing at infinity that is a design or manufacturing flaw. The flange distance is off. I’m not sure what’s common with Leica lenses but, focusing slightly past infinity is very common and intentional in a lot of cases. My Summicron M 28 will focus slightly past infinity on both my M10-R and Nikon Z7 with the Novoflex adapter.
