My take on DPREVIEW’s initial Q3 review. Cost aside and not in any order. Perhaps I still need some clarification for my “nit-picks”

The “how does it compare section” of the editorial review here; I do not think comparing the Q’s to Fuji and Ricoh are that helpful. Forget cost for the moment. They are different sensor sizes. I think a compare to another column with a Leica body and 28 mm.

If understand the sensor in use is the same as the current Sony A7R. While Sony does not have a prime 28 mm I am aware of and a column I think perhaps to take liberty with is compare with a Sony A7R5, 24 mm or 35 mm GM prime. Not sure if that makes sense just an idea ?

I like the idea of a tilt LCD on the Q3! I really like more custom buttons going from two to four on the Q3.

I am not sure if the two rear buttons next to each other might have different tactile feel when you do not want to look away from the EVF. I know I use that button on the Q2 for quick changes to the crop.

The other concern is the how the Play back and Menu buttons are near the Dpad. Will you hit play back or menu when you try to move the focus placement. At least that is how I use it and like it much like how I use my Sony. I am guessing this is probally because of the tilting LCD.

What if they make the Leica Q4 a inch or two wider/taller to space those buttons a bit more?

The OEM feel/grip as is with the Q2 is so-so. I have the RRS grip for my Q2 and it makes it so much more usable and enjoyable to use. Imagine if your car steering wheel was the size of your palm. Great car but not so easy to use. If that is even a good analogy.. ??

If RRS does a grip for the Q3 it will be different so no using the Q2 grip. Not sure about the Leica OEM.

If you use the Leica wireless base I hope they have indicator lights for charging status!

I do agree that Leica should either give you that Leica OEM thumb grip. Maybe make the camera cost $50 more whatever and give it free. Does it really need to be a $200 type of accessory? Yeah, its Leica, lol …..

Camera batteries do not need to cost upwards of $300 let alone $200, whatever this new Q3 battery might cost. Maybe these batteries also need that red dot … lol … ? Yes it is nit pick city today!

I really like the Macro feature and great it is still here.

I want Leica (not likely) or 3rd party to offer a Way less expansive TTL flash accessory option. Sometimes you need some fill flash.

What I want to see at the moment in the Leica Q4. A large enough body or a way to get better tactile input for buttons if my assumption matters.

There is no AI-assisted perspective control. Instead, same as on M and SL cameras, the orientation sensors are used. LPC means Leica Perspective Control and not Live Perspective Control.

For off-camera use there's the Godox trigger, which will provide TTL with a variety of Godox-lights.

Otherwise, there's the older Leica SF 24, small, light and affordable. It's plasticky and feels cheap, but on the bright side, that brings down the weight. Also has a pretty good A-mode. Can be found for around 100 euro.

At what expense? It is the perfect balance of size and quality.

Q4 is a long way off. The OEM Q2 Grip fits the Q3. The RRS Grip does not. OEM thumb grip is very nice - should be alot cheaper.
