Problem adding Geotags to OM1 iii using OI Share

I have successfully transferred geotag information form my iPhone to the camera using OI Share in the past, but today it's not working. (I use it infrequently, so I may be doing something wrong or forgetting a step.) I save the geotag information on the phone, and then try to connect the phone to the camera. The phone sees the camera as a wifi source and tries to connect to it. After a few seconds the message "No Internet Connection" appears under the network name (it's the correct network name, and the phone has the correct password for the camera wifi network). Am I making a simple mistake?

Any suggestions? Thanks for any troubleshooting advice.

I'm not familiar with iPhones but I know people can sometimes makes mistakes like type a "l" instead of an "I"...so I would double check that.

Also, the way I do it (which so far works every time) is open the app, verify that both the WiFi and Bluetooth icons on the bottom of the app screen (on Android, anyway) turn blue meaning connected, then turn on the app switch that starts the geotagging, and put the phone in my pocket and shoot and it all works.

But it sounds like maybe your phone or camera got new firmware and they might have to be reconnected (apart from the app).

Your camera does not provide internet access, so maybe that error message doesn't matter to what you're trying to accomplish here? Or is OI.Share unable to connect to the phone? Is it possible to connect over Bluetooth only?

I don't know if it matters, but there's no such thing as an "OM1 III". Do you mean an OM-1 II, an E-M1 III or an OM-3?

The camera does not connect to internet, therefore that message is normal and to be expected. It is just a dedicated wi-fi connection between the camera and the iphone only.

Just covering the basics. Is Wi-fi turned on in the camera menu? Did you tap the connection icon on the Live View screen to activate and tell the camera to connect (it then changes to a white screen for device connection)?

If that's not the issue, check out Rob Trek's video on Geotagging to see if you missed any steps.

Good luck
