Possible craigslist scam?

I am buying a Nikon D5300 along with a long lens (up to 300 mm) and possibly a kit lens. I was looking around online for deals, and I found one on craigslist that would be perfect, but I am wondering if it is too perfect that it is a scam. It is a Like New condition D5300, along with the 18-55 mm kit lens and an AF-S 55-300 mm lens. The seller claims the camera to be a year old, works like new, and comes in original packaging. Pictures are real, not from the manufacturers website, and the camera and lenses appear to be in good condition. I have a very limited budget so this would be perfect, but I don't want to waste my money on a scam. Would you guys go for it or consider it a scam and avoid it?

The price seems sort of in the ballpark of what I would expect on the secondary market. It could be a good deal, but you'd have to make sure everything is working properly. If you don't know how to do that maybe you can find a friend that might? In general, I wouldn't really buy off craigslist unless I was fairly sure I could thoroughly check out what I was getting. It may be better for you to just get something used from a place like B&H, Adorama, or KEH. They all have pretty great used selections online and are trusted by lots of photographers.

I know someone who primarily uses The D5300, would she be a good reference? And I would be buying it in person so I could test it there... I am also going to be asking the seller a few things such as why they are buying it and if they have ever dropped/bumped it, over the phone... Do you still think its not safe from craigslist? Like I said I have a limited budget so I am looking for the best deal I can get.

If you buy directly from a seller, once you part, the deal is irreversible. If there is a problem that shows up in the next day or two, you're just stuck.

Buying from an e-bay seller is safer because you at least have a couple or three days to check it out. If there is a problem, you have e-bay and PayPal to guarantee you against loss.
