June of 2025 I purchased a Nikon Z5 II and had to upgrade from PL v4x to PLv8. PL4 did not support the Z5II.

I had purchased a new Win11 machine prior to the camera purchase. Old machine was Win10. My computer shop successfully transferred everything to the Win11 machine via a very recent system image. PL v4x behaved 100% normally on the new machine.

The problem after upgrading to PLv8 on that new Win11 machine:

1) I only shoot in RAW and have done so for 19 years with various Nikon cameras.

2) I only process my keepers and discard the rest.

3) After inspecting my "photo file" with to see how the upgrade to PL8 went I saw the following:

1) All previous edits for all photos disappeared in the PL Advanced History.

2) If I edit a new photo, close PL and the open it, ALL edits to that photo are gone in the above referenced history.

FYI, all .dop sidecar files are still present in File Explorer.

I certainly appreciate any and all ideas, no matter how dumb your suggestions make me look!!

This is all normal for Windows versions. The history disappears after an editing session closes. You can find that in the v9 user manual, as it is in previous user manuals. The manuals say only Mac versions do preserve the history...

'The DxO Advanced History palette records the following information, which is retained when you exit the program (Mac only):'

Correct. But they don't preserve the editing history, which is a bunch of things that occurred over time during a session. They preserve the snapshot of the final editing parameters that were in place when the session was closed.

It's just a matter of reading the documentation.
