Howdy!

I don't post a whole lot, but thought that I'd share these shots from last night of our Bulldog puppy. First, let me say that portraiture has never really been my "cup of tea" or my strong suit, but I dabble in it occasionally, so I do consider myself very much inexperienced in the area. Anyway, here are the 3 shots, so please be gentle. :-)

I decided to go with the selective color on this one because I felt that there was enough color to make it a bit distracting (See the 2nd pic)

This one, may be a little distracting with all of the color and may actually be over saturate, but that's why I'm here....for constructive C&C.

This one may be my favorite of the 3. I really like that I was able to get the Christmas lights on the Christmas tree to reflect in her left eye (centered) and am also pleased with the shadows.

I also think the second color image is a bit distracting but only because you included the first outstanding image using selective color -- very nice. The third is a super picture that shows some character in the subject and I really enjoy that. Nice work.

I like the third one! Dont like the christmas tree in the other shots because its destracting from the otherwise adorable dog photo :)

I really like the first one. The selective color may not suite everyone, but in this case, it really makes tihe image stand out.

I am a wedding photgrapher who is thinking of adding pets to my offerings.

Any suggestions?

I appreciate the comments. What I meant to say was that I am a portrait photographer who specializes in weddings. I have done some high school seniors, but was thinking of doing pet portrait photography. Do you think there is a market for that considering everyone has a camera on their phone?

I definitely think that there's a market for it and would assume that it would do best in larger cities. If you already have all of the equipment that you would normally use for say an indoor shoot, then it wouldn't hurt to offer it as another service. I'd see it as very little risk with the occasional reward in that regard. People love their pets and I can see that service doing well in a larger city. But you are also correct with everyone having access to a camera through their phone.

It looks like the nose is out of focus in all three and its a bit distracting to me, more so at first two then the third.

I anyway like the third one best.
