Hi all, I have an X100VI with firmware 1.31. In the past the camera would connect with the fuji app with no problem.

Now when I start the app, it sees the camera and it says it is connected. However when I try to transfer images or use remote control, it simply doesnt work. The farthest I got was a message from the app saying it was joining the wifi network of the camera and then after a couple of minutes it times out.

I tried reinstalling the app, re pairing the camera, removing all bluetooth traces from the phone, etc to no avail.

Called Fuji tech support and they simply told me to reinstall app. Nothing else they can do...

Any ideas what I can do?

TIA

What phone are you using?

Ah, I can't help then - I use Android.

Sorry.

As always with connection difficulties, it's a good idea to reboot the modem and then the router if you haven't already done so.

The app connects directly to a network created by the camera. There is no “router” or “modem” involved here.

Agreed.

I get to that same connection moment where app is connecting to camera wifi and it just stays there.

This is how I understand it should work.

The phone app and the camera will connect to each other (pair) via Bluetooth. When that has worked, in the app, you will see that it's 'connected' and you can use the app to get the camera to record the lat & long.

When you want to transfer pictures, you tell the app to do that. It talks to the camera to get the wifi credentials from the camera and initiates a wifi connection. You should see the camera light flashing and the phone apparently losing connection to the internet over wifi (it does a direct connection to the camera - no router involved).

If it's not working, check the camera. Has wifi been enabled and is it set up OK?

Have you tried a full reset on the camera and to re-setup the Xapp connection? If not, give that a go - you may want to also check the wifi/bluetooth connections on the camera after a reset to make sure it's all OK.

It is most likely not your app or camera but your home WiFi In your iPhone settings, as it is most likely set to automatically join to your home WiFi network so when you walk into your house, the phone automatically connects. This is. called "auto-join." This can cause issue when you try to connect to the WiFi on the iPhone as this can cause your phone to jump off of the phone WiFi back to your home network.

While using the app in range of your home WiFi, set auto-join to your home network to "off."

That’s a new one to me. I haven’t found Auto Join to be a problem in practice. In my experience the phone explicitly drops the existing network connection and picks up the phone connection.

Worth trying though — I’m adding it to my bag of tricks . Sometimes, when all else fails, you have to sacrifice a rubber chicken.

Until recently, the Fujifilm Camera Remote app on my Samsung S23 (Android) phone worked well with the X-E3 — connected via Bluetooth and accurately supplying time and geolocation info.

Was it the October 9 app update, or a recent OS security update? Who knows, but now the Bluetooth connection fails to establish (stays forever searching for devices, despite being side-by-side). :-(

Ironically, on the Play Store page, they state that the update "fixed the Bluetooth connectivity issue." Sad to know that the app working on my phone is an issue for someone, so they fixed it so it no longer works.

Tried that and it did not help.
the weird thing is that the app shows it is connected to the camera’s wifi but when you click GET or REMOTE, it times out and the camera gets the attached error message…

It says it has a Bluetooth connection active, not Wi-Fi.
The App starts with a Bluetooth connection — used for simple operations like remote shutter and transmitting GPS location information. It switches to a direct wifi connection to download files or use live view.

Yes, I know — mine behaved the same way until it broke.
