P950 problems

I have owned a P950 for about 18 months, and I quite like it... for some purposes, but not others.

I use my camera for wildlife photography and while hillwalking. The P950 is good for the former because of its range, and for the latter because of its lightness. I find it very useful when bird-watching as a long-range backup to my binoculars (10×30).

Often, if a bird is too far away to identify with binoculars, a photo on the P950, quickly zoomed in on Display, will show me sufficient detail to confirm identification. Mind you, the photo is only a record - it won't be a work of art!

However, I currently have a problem: my Display (see photo)

shows an overlay, showing Comment, Artist and Copyright. I cannot see the photo beneath, and can't find anything in the manual about how to remove this useless and irritating feature! Help, please!

Another problem I have is that the camera always defaults to under-exposure, by between .3 and .7 of a stop. So I have to adjust it manually every time. Why is this, and can it be re-set?

Last problem I have is with butterfly photography. With the enormous zoom capability, the,P950 should be great for these small subjects - but, even on macro setting, if I am a distance away, I zoom in to get the butterfly at a good size, and then find the camera won't focus! I have to zoom back out, and eventually, the camera will settle and focus. The subject butterfly is then quite small in the frame. I then have to enlarge it later, and lose the definition in so doing. So I never get a really crisp final result - frustrating!

I must be doing it wrong - bad workman blaming his tools. Any advice gratefully received.

Go to your Menu and scroll down to the wrench icon. Select the wrench and then scroll until youb see "copywrite info" and click on it to turn it Off

I just press the DISP button - it allows you to scroll through viewing options.

What mode are you using for the photos? I use Bird mode and just press the exposure section of the dial to the right of the OK button to increase or decrease. But if you're using say S mode, or M mode, you can adjust the exposure and then save. But lighting is changing all the time, I just adjust it manually for each occasion.

Re Butterfly shots - if you're standing further away you can zoom in better, but not close to. You'd need to change the setting you're using to close up mode. I press the dial below the OK button where the flower shows. But then, if you're too close the butterfly may well take off anyway. If you have the distance, stand further away and zoom in.
