Asking the community for assistance, has anyone noticed any difference in the color and noise output between these two cameras? Photgraphylife.com noted that there was a significant color difference when using CaptureNX and a significant noise difference when using adobe.

I hear wonderful compliments on the color output of the D4, but I have the opportunity buy a D4s under the impression that it has the same wonderful color output as the D4, but if the output is different then I will pass

Here is a quote from the review

"I could not figure out why, but Capture NX-D was converting D4s images differently than the D4, with all settings being identical between the cameras. While Adobe Camera RAW / Lightroom did not apply adjustments and shots looked consistent between the two, the noise patterns look very different in Adobe, as I have previously mentioned."

Hi, I think you are making incorrect assumptions. If you are shooting in raw - color gain does not matter, you may adjust it in post process. Depending on converter (ACR, C1, DxO...) you will get different results.

For example, - I have set the profile for D4 - and the same for D800 - and D800 is getting less saturated. So I just ad some saturations and that is all. I real life - you will not see a difference, major things - convenient button lay out, may be better AF system, Fps, video - those small improvements that mater for some one.

I have owned both and never saw a difference in color using Lightroom I think the articles you are reading are for, many years ago and reflect am earlier generation of raw converter.

I shot on two D4S bodies and a D4 quite heavily for a couple years before moving to the Z9. I'd say I've easily put 600,000 shots through my 3 bodies.

In my experience the D4 presents a very uncontrolled colour profile compared to the D4S. I never found the rear screen to be very accurate either. I shoot straight jpg files for my client work and found that straight out of camera with 'standard' color profiles set - even with desaturating applied - I have very strong saturated colours. The D4S feels and looks much more refined and controlled, and I found the files much easier to work with.

In terms of iso/noise - the D4S performs much better, and seems to keep a lot more detail at high iso. I would never voluntarily shoot my D4 above 8000 iso. My D4S has never been shot above 32,000, but quite regularly sat at 12,800 or 16,000 iso.

If you haven't already decided - I definitely recommend the D4S over the D4.
