Following the thread on a possible successor to DPReview discussed in this thread:

https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4705507

Here is the news.

Three proposals have merged efforts.

The new site will be DPRevived.com, not as originally advertised PhotoForums.com.

There is an interim site https://cameradiscussion.createmybb4.com/index.php hosted by Alansh. This can be used for ongoing discussions. Registrations and posts will be migrated to the long-term site.

ComeHither has created a registration page for the new site. This will be available on DPRevived.com when the name servers sort themselves out. During that the email [email protected] won't be reachable, so pleas have patience.

I'll post again when it's back.

Also, we've been in toch with Soencer and Nasim at Photography Life. They are also proposing a solution, hopefully that will be included under a single banner.

This looks like it might work.

Very good, thank you to all the people contributing to this effort!

Thank you for all the work put into this. Just registered (and was even able to add avatar from here). Hope its all goes as smoothly as can be.

Tried to register using the username and E-Mail that I have used here but it rejects both as not available.

Try to sign in straight, I was able to post a reply in the test post, I'm very exited!

I wish I could get the registration piece to work so I could. How long ago did you register? Maybe it's overwhelmed right now?

Like 20 minutes ago, I just got an e-mail from [email protected] , they said it's giving an error but it still could work, they are done for the day.

I also got an error message on the first attempt to register. But, when I tried to register a second time, it said my user name was already being used. So, instead of trying to register again, I tried to log-in with the username/password from the first registration attempt (despite the error message), and it worked.

I have had a couple of other error messages within the site. I tried to respond to a post, and it gave me 'unknown error's' message. I tried to update the e-mail I want to use, and it gave me the same issue. I imagine there are a lot of kinks to be ironed out.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a try.

Yes, thank you for the tip as well.

When I registered as DannoB I got an error saying both the username and email I used were both unavailable.

But I then tried to log in anyway as DannoB with my password and it let me in.

So it looks like we can register there, even with the current minor glitch which hopefully will be fixed soon, so hopefully more "refugees" and forum homeless people can come over now :-D

Thank you again especially to bobn2 and to anyone else involved in getting dprevived.com up and running so quickly.

Hopefully any teething problems will be sorted out quickly.

Yes, I had similar success and am on now. I even posted the first cat photo in the Olympus SLR forum! It works! Kudos to bobn2!

hmmm....I can't reply to any posts there yet but I was successful in starting a new thread in Open Talk.
Same here, however I am getting replies to my post, so maybe it takes time? Or maybe you have to hit a threshold first? Not sure.

Or maybe my reputation from here precedes me and I have already been sandboxed there :-D

I had much the same problem, except when logging in the second time, it said the login was successful but that I needed to set a new password. However, when I try to Set New Password and click Send Link, it says 'Unknown Error has Occurred'.
