Amused myself with colllecting info from diferent K20D rumour threads, below is my summary.

14 Mp CMOS APS-C sensor, probably a Pentax design. Not Sony, Fujitsu, Kodak or Foveon.
Better DR than K10D
Improved SR
AF fine adjustments

Frame rate (from other forum) 1-2 fps behind competitors. Probably 4 fps (my guess).
Similar body as K10D, stainless steel + plastic, compatible with K10D BG2 grip.
Live view in LCD, larger, wide viewing angles, probably 3'
14 bit RAW
P-TTL flash (no TTL support)
PC sync connector
Lens mount same as K10D, still ”crippled”

+ lots of more features??

There have been no leaks on updates on the AF system, although it seems to be one of the most wanted upgrade in terms of lowlight performance, speed and CAF tracking performance.
24 jan 2008 will be an interesting date.

Mats

Thank you for the summary!

One clarification was that on the AF fine adjustments, the rumour was that one would be able to store AF fine adjustments BY LENS, i believe. I think that would be very useful for all cameras, not to mention a possible breakthrough idea.

Because all lens must vary some on their calibration at the factory.

It will probably only work with Pentax AF lenses, other brands are unlikely to work correctly, as most report the same wrong lens type in the maker notes for several different models.

You can check this by running a free utility called PhotoME on your images taken with different lenses. http://www.photome.de/home_eng.html

This is a problem of Photome (or any other Exif program).

I think every lens can identify itself correctly. The only problem is if the camera/program understands the language.
Photome lerns more lenses every day. ;-)

I hope that it will work for other brands as well.

PENTAX, mysterium quod absconditum fuit ...

Yep, so everyone says.
Better DR than K10D
Seems so
Improved SR
Probably
AF fine adjustments
Possibly

Nah. Maybe more than one rate?
Similar body as K10D, stainless steel + plastic, compatible with K10D
BG2 grip.
Would be really sensible, nice for those who want to add a body only.
Live view in LCD, larger, wide viewing angles, probably 3'
Now that would be fantastic! But they can't fit a 3' screen (' = ft, " = inch) ;-)
14 bit RAW
Seems it's the "monkey see, monkey do" trend.
P-TTL flash (no TTL support)
Who else does?
PC sync connector
So you can now trip over the wires!
Lens mount same as K10D, still ”crippled”
Ummm, where's my crutches?!!
+ lots of more features??
Ohhh yesss!

Indeed it will! Maybe, if Pentax are up to it and very nice to him, Uncle Phill will also give us a pre-view at much the same time. ;-)

Thanks for summarizing it all up. There's one thing that really bothers me, and that was the lack of the AF-Assist lamp. Something that you can switch on or off. If Pentax does not include that obvious feature, I don't know what they're trying to get at.

Here's to hoping that it does get into the final feature list, for both K200D, and K20D.

Oh that's horrid, Richard. I would expect a pint of Wadworth 6X attached to your K10D and nothing less. Besides, as any beer-knowledgeable Pentaxian knows, you need a Stout Porter to handle the really long glass.

will it open my beer bottles and play MP3's?? :D :D :D :D :D
Oh, simple really. Remove the lens. Place the camera just back from the edge of a table or counter, so the edge can act as a lever. Insert the top of the beer bottle against the inside of the lens mount and pop the top.

If the contents bubble out, think of it as a way to clean dust from the sensor.

The first Pentax that shows up with a headphones jack, I'm switching to Nikon :)

Everybody seems to assume that the new models will be named K20D and K200D. But that would contradict the Pentax convention that smaller number = more advanced camera (as K10D, K100D, K110D). In that sense, K5D and K50D would be more likely.

It was done for the Japanese market!

6X is best in barrels! You need the larger 645D mount! ;-)

The only really long glass I would risk handling Stout Porter with, is in a yard of ale glass!

Actually it's K111D and K11D, they are a digital company, everything's 1's and 0's! ;-)

Doesn't Visible Dust sell a $190 beer bottle for exactly that purpose? It shakes the contents with 2 AA batteries...
