wow, that looks really good.

Did you save the picture as a .gif and then make the frame in PS?

:)

There are a number of ways to do this.
I did this with photoshop:

1. select the part of the image you want to be inside the frame.

2. copy it to a blank canvas.

3. frame it ( I used Bud Guinn's framing actions available free in this forum).

4. increase the canvas size enough to allow room for the whole image.

5. using the original image, select each piece you want to "burst" outside the frame and overlap it a bit with what's inside. copy each piece and paste it into the framed picture.

6. use the move tool to position each piece. do fine positioning with the arrow keys if necessary.

Hi Bud,

Just wondering if I cud use your wood frame as an html background? I used to add white bg and soft shadow in photoshop. Then I realized that the added white border creates a bigger file. So I finally decided to carefully create 1px image that will be expanded in bg like this http://www.emnme.com/gallery_head.htm

But Im bored already with the white border and I want to use another frame like your african mahogany.

Any suggestion?

Cheers!

note that I chose a background color that was very different from the items I wanted to cut out. the PS magnetic lasso easily followed the leaf and sweater edges........... The whole project took less than 10 minutes.

If the colors were not so distinct, It would have been a much slower process selecting the pop-out parts.

Nothing would honor me more......there are no restriction at all on the use of my actions....except for selling the actions....they are to be free and used liberally with everything you do.. :)
