Planning to take a trip with many photo ops, different every day or couple of days.

I also planned to take all of my (4) cameras which include: DSLR and 3 lenses, m4/3rds and 2 lenses, and 2 P&S cameras. The DSLR expects to see probably a good 80% of the entire trip, with a quality P&S next, followed by the m4/3rds (as a back up to the DSLR), and the other P&S to act as the camera at hand in the car for quick and spontaneous ops.

But my dilemma comes in figuring how to use my memory cards. Would it be wise to use 1 memory card per venue? This would necessitate switching that card to which ever cameras were being used for the event....so that all pictures taken, no matter how many cameras were actually used...would be on the ONE memory card. Ultimately, when the images of all cards were downloaded, they would be in the chronological order of the trip.

Does this make sense? If I happened to use 2 or 3 different cameras for our day at Grand Canyon (as an example), ALL G.C. pics would be on the one memory card(assuming they would all fit, of course).

Can I use the same memory card in multiple cameras with no problems, even though that card may have been formatted by the first camera used that day?

Thanks for your advice.

If all your cameras have the correct time set, then you sort by date modified and they should be in order even if they were originally on different cards. While I do format my cards on one of my DSLR's and then use in either (same manufacturer), I have never tried to put images from both on the same card. You would certainly increase the probability of problems and I would not want to take that chance when traveling.

Spread the risk use one card per camera at least.

Absolutely.......there is no benefit swapping cards between cameras and will only increase the odds for a screwup......

If the accurate date/time is set on each body then there shouldn't be any problem downloading to specific folders and sorting by chronological order.
